Joseph Baena may aspire to be a successful actor like his father Arnold Schwarzenegger, but he isn’t interested in doing so only because of his surname.

He explains why in a recent E! Online interview with Loni Love and Morgan Stewart.

“There’s a few different variables in that,” Joseph explained the decision to the hosts. “But that’s just not my main priority at the moment, so I’m just focused on building myself up and building my career in acting and real estate and just focusing on that right now.”

However, one place where Baena invites comparisons to his famous father is on his Instagram page, where he regularly shows off his gains from Gold’s Gym in Venice by flexing and recreating some of Schwarzenegger’s most iconic poses from his heyday as a professional bodybuilder, during which he won the prestigious title of Mr. Olympia no less than seven times.

Baena, on the other hand, was ready to admit that he “[looks] up to” his dad. “My dad is a stallion. He’s a man’s man, I like to think, and I look up to him a lot.”

“So in a way, he’s influenced a lot of things: the path that I have taken with acting, with fitness and my physique and the many other things that I’m doing.”

Joseph has a number of future projects, including the Bitflix action thriller Lava.

He stated, “It’s a fun horror thriller.  Basically, these girls come into town into Hawaii, meet these group of guys that are freedivers and we take them on a little trip.”

“After messing around with some local folklore, their vacation kind of turns upside down and turns into a horror story. So it’s exciting, and I’m really excited for it to come out and see how it goes.”

Meanwhile, Joseph keeps himself busy in the gym—he works out for “hours” every day and eats things like meat or meat substitutes and rice—and hopes to land his dream film part as a cowboy in a Western.

“I want to wear the hat, the boots, and I know how to ride horses,” Baena told the outlet, adding that he’d love to play a cowboy in a western someday.

He’s also getting ready for the holidays, so Morgan and Loni couldn’t help but wonder whether he’ll be bringing someone special home with him.

Joseph’s answer? “The only person I’m spending with the holidays is my family.”
