As their ugly divorce battle continues, Dr. Dre has been ordered by a judge to pay $1.5 million to his estranged wife, Nicole Young.

The court in the divorce case decided last week that after paying Nicole $2 million in legal expenses and charges, the rapper and Beats mogul should pay Nicole another $1.55 million in legal fees and costs.

Nicole’s legal bills in the lawsuit so far will be $3 million plus costs, according to the judge. That means the producer will have to pay $1 million in fees, plus $550,000 in case-related costs.

The money will be used to cover fees and expenditures until July 2, 2021. However, it is uncertain what the final bill will be as the lawsuit progresses.

According to court documents acquired by The Blast, the judge justified the increase in costs by citing the ‘disparity’ of assets between Dre and Young, as well as the ‘attorney’s training and experience in family law.’

‘Ms. Samantha F. Spector and Lisa Helfend Meyer, certified family law specialists, have significant years of experience in family law and have extensive practical experience in complex family law matters,’ the judge writes.

‘Considering the level of the case’s complexity, and the issues involved, an attorney of their level and skill is reasonably necessary; and therefore, the various hourly rates of the primary and secondary attorneys participating in this litigation are reasonable and justifiable.

Fees in the lawsuit, according to Young and her lawyers, were close to $4 million. Young’s legal bill may cost up to $1,100 per hour, according to court documents. Samantha Spector, a hotshot celebrity lawyer, is representing her in the lawsuit.

The judge also decided that Dre must pay Nicole $293,306 in monthly interim spousal support, retroactive to Sept. 1, 2020, and that Dre must additionally pay for household expenditures such as security, insurance, gardening, taxes, repairs, and upkeep, as previously directed.

The judge calculated in the judgment that this amounted to $3,812,987 in the preceding year, noting that the previously paid living expenses that Dre had already given over may not have covered all of the home’s costs. The judgment also said that the parties must discuss before the end of next month on any further charges Dre owes Young for home expenses.

According to TMZ, the 56-year-old rapper/producer agreed to pay Young $2 million in January to ‘cover all’ of her expenses, plus an extra $500,000 in legal fees.

In 2020, Young, 51, filed for divorce from Dre, 56. The couple has two adult children and has been married for 24 years. The estranged couple has been fighting in court over a prenuptial agreement.

The court’s new ruling comes only weeks after Dr. Dre sued Nicole, accusing her of ’embezzling’ cash from his recording studio.

According to legal documents acquired by The Blast, he is suing her for allegedly taking $350,000 from his Recording One music studio in the Sherman Oaks district of Los Angeles.

According to The Blast, Nicole has already returned the money in question, which she was allowed to do because it was taken from a joint account the pair used throughout their marriage.
