Meghan Markle may not be answering her estranged father’s phone calls, but it hasn’t prevented Thomas Markle from giving interviews and making some serious claims about Oprah Winfrey.

The 76-year-old estranged granddad brazenly stated Oprah might sue him, but he feels she’s been “playing” his daughter Meghan Markle in an explosive interview with Australia’s 60 Minutes.

In a clip from the interview, the 76-year-old stated, “For one, I think Oprah Winfrey is playing Harry and Meghan. I think she’s using them to build her network and build her new shows and I think she’s taking advantage of a very weakened man and getting him to say things that you just shouldn’t be saying on television.”

“She will disagree of course, and she may even sue me, I don’t care. But the bottom line is she is working Harry.”

In another part of his explosive interview, Thomas expressed his disappointment at learning of his new baby granddaughter Lilibet’s birth after Meghan and Harry released their public announcement.

“July 18, I’ll be 77 years old. Most of the Markle men don’t make it much past 80.

“Yeah, there’s good chance I might, I might never see my grandchildren. I’m not looking for pity. I’m just saying that’s a reality.”

He went on: “All I can say is that I hope eventually I get to see these grandchildren of mine. I’m a pretty good grandpa.

“August 4, 40 years ago, Megan was born by c-section and I was the first one to hold her in my arms. I fell in love with her and I’ve been that way ever since. I will be very disappointed if I don’t get to hold my granddaughter.”

He and Meghan haven’t talked since he abruptly pulled out of her and Harry’s royal wedding two days before it in 2018.

While the pair has received a lot of acclaim for bringing mental health topics to a global audience, Markle’s father feels it’s all a hoax engineered by Winfrey. According to him, the talk show host is “building back” her network and using his son-in-law to boost her ratings.

He said: “I think it’s a setup. I think she’s patting herself on the back and making a lot of money from this.”

“I think Harry is being put in a position where he’s saying things he’ll never be able to take back. That’s a horrible thing.”

“I just don’t think they’re (Harry and Meghan) taking the right path … everything they’re doing now seems to be going against public opinion … the only one benefiting is Oprah.”

Mr. Markle also went after Harry.

He said, “(Harry) contradicts himself so much.”

“With my daughter, he said my daughter was thinking of suicide. And … he went to the royals and they wouldn’t help him. Well, you don’t go to the royals, you pick up a telephone and you call a doctor.

“That’s like saying, ‘I wanted to leave the house, but nobody opened the door for me.’ You know, it’s stupid.”

He replied when asked what he would say to the duchess if she was watching: “I do love you. I wish we could sit down and talk about it. I’m not an ogre. I’d love to talk to her.”
