Here’s Why Meghan Markle Is Always Touching Her Hair

Meghan Markle is often seen touching her hair or running her hands over her locks, and body language expert Blanca Cobb claims there’s an explanation behind it.

“Some people touch their hair, play with their fingernails, or rub their arms as a way to psychologically and physiologically calm themselves when they’re feeling anxious, uncomfortable, or stressed,” Cobb, author of Method of the Masters, told GoodHousekeeping.

“Some people might touch, twirl, or stroke their hair when in awkward social situations, such as when they’re not sure what to do or what to say.”

Every one of us has our own set of habits. Some people chew their nails. Others have their arms crossed. Meghan Markle, on the other hand, is always touching her hair.

“Context is key when distinguishing a habit from a nonverbal tell,” Cobb says. “For example, if someone frequently touches their hair in a variety of non-stressful situations such as talking on the phone, reading a book, or watching TV then it’s more likely a habit they’re not even aware of. If, however, they tend to touch their hair when having a heated discussion or they’re uncomfortable with someone around them, then it’s more likely a body language tell.”

It’s fair to say that you’d be anxious during significant photo ops, particularly when you know millions (and millions) of people will see your pictures for years to come. “In this situation, Meghan’s hair touch is a soothing gesture,” Cobb says. ” Her head is also tilted down slightly. Sometimes when you feel too much attention you might tuck your chin down as a way to shield yourself. ”

“I think she’s probably one of the most confident members of the Royal Family that we’ve ever had, in a really good way,” body language specialist Judi James said on the Mirror’s royal podcast Pod Save the Queen. Mr James, on the other hand, shared a telltale sign that Meghan is much like the rest of us and might be dealing with her own insecurities.

When Meghan is out and about hosting public events, she is often seen playing with her hair, which may be a sign of nerves.

“It’s really only the hair touch that suggests any possible sign of nerves,” Mr James told Fabulous Digital.

“It’s like the one done by Victoria Beckham and can be a partial cut-off or hide although in Meghan’s case it has a practical purpose to keep her hair neat.”

According to one body language expert, Meghan has showed other signals that she might be seeking reassurance, especially from her husband, Prince Harry.

Meghan is often seen clutching her husband’s arm, which may indicate that she is seeking comfort.

“She’s reaching for comfort for her and the future baby,” body language specialist Patti Wood told Elite Daily.

“It’s a guard across the belly, but it’s an interesting guard because she’s seeking comfort from him and knows he will protect her.”

Meghan may even be clutching Harry’s arm to express her happiness at being with her husband.

Twitter users had an unexpected reaction. People chastised her for it, calling it an irritating habit.
Some joked that Meghan takes advantage of the chance to flaunt her jewels and get ready for photos. Others were more categorical, stating that it was time for her to put an end to it.

Meghan regularly brushing her hair is a gesture she uses to relax herself while she is under pressure, according to Elizabeth Kuhnke, a body language specialist.

According to the bestselling author of a book on nonverbal habits,

“It’s a physical and psychological calming gesture when feeling uncomfortable or stressed. It’s the adult version of a child clutching favorite toy, mother’s skirt or father’s hand when feeling anxious and not knowing what to do or say.”
