Adam Sandler has confessed that his children aren’t particularly fond of his films.

He says that although they ask to see his films, they aren’t interested enough for them to stay watching, stating, “They beg to see them. They’re like, ‘Please, it’s not fair! Let me watch your movies. Those people always yell things at you on the street. I don’t know what the heck they’re talking about.’”

He added, “I’d say about 20 minutes in I see them tuning out, and then I hear them… They’re nervous to say it, but [they’re] like, ‘Can we watch something else?’”

Sandler, however, did not take offense at his daughter’s attitude to his films, according to E! News. He described his children as lovely. “I love ’em. I love ’em more than anything,” he said.

Adam’s girls are more interested in Ellen because of her enormously popular animated film Finding Dory.

‘When it came out they went bananas,’ he told the talk show host, who voices Dory.

Adam has had a long and successful career, beginning as a regular on Saturday Night Live and quickly moving into cinema. Fan favorites are The Wedding Singer and Little Nicky.

Sandler inked a four-film agreement with Netflix in 2014. His first Netflix project, the comedic western The Ridiculous 6, debuted in December 2015 to overwhelmingly negative reviews and now has a 0% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Sandler’s second Netflix film, The Do-Over, was released in May 2016 and has a somewhat higher Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of 5%.

Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos defended the actor’s contract, citing Adam’s broad recognition and appeal: “The thing that is most global on Netflix is Adam Sandler.”

Sandler told The Hollywood Reporter that his mother isn’t a fan of the new streaming site for watching movies. The actor has previously shown his mother how to use the site, but she isn’t interested, so she hasn’t viewed her son’s most recent work.

Sandy Wexler, his next Netflix feature, will be released later this month.
