Despite having been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, Patrick Swayze has been seen smoking.

The Dirty Dancing star, 56, has refused to quit even though he is critically sick.

While waiting for wife Lisa Niemi in Beverly Hills, the actor appeared pale and weak as he stubbornly lit a cigarette.

The actor, who rose to popularity in 1987 for his muscular figure and sensual routines in the smash film Dirty Dancing, now appears to be a shell of his former self.

After visiting a medical center, a source informed The Mirror that Swayze was “chain-smoking.”

An eyewitness commented: “He was puffing away and appeared as if he didn’t have a care in the world. It’s so sad.”

Friends believe Swayze’s health is rapidly deteriorating as he accepts his fate. In a recent interview, the actor, who has pancreatic cancer and smokes 60 cigarettes a day, said, “When it looks like I may live longer than five minutes I’ll drop cigarettes like a hot potato.”

Swayze acknowledges that he will die in five years.

According to reports from the United States, he has stopped receiving cancer treatment, including chemotherapy, after enduring severe side effects such as terrible teeth discomfort that made chewing difficult.

He is thought to have had dental surgery to save his teeth and mend his damaged gums.

He recently got out of the hospital after contracting pneumonia as a result of his weakened immune system.

Swayze is presently working on a memoir that he promises will be written “from the heart” for his admirers.

He started filming The Beast, a TV series in which he portrays an FBI agent, in July.
