Christian Bale wants to explain his “Terminator” rant, so that no one avoids the film because of his admitted “potty mouth.”

Christian Bale, the actor of BATMAN, has apologized for his expletive-laced outburst on set of a new “Terminator” movie, claiming he was “out of order beyond belief.”

Bale told the hosts of a Los Angeles radio show on Friday, “I completely deserve it.”

He called it “inexcusable” and admitting “I acted like a punk”.

The actor talked to Los Angeles radio station KROQ on Friday after a recording of his foul-mouthed outburst against the director of photography Shane Hurlbut was published on the internet. Hurlbut had made the mistake of walking into Bale’s eyeline during a take on the shoot in July. He had walked onto set to check a light during the filming of a scene.

This was allegedly the second time he had done so, and Bale grew enraged, hurling f-bombs at Hurlbut and threatening to break his lighting equipment.

“Do you understand my mind is not in the scene if you’re doing that?”   Bale is heard stating, in one of the few non-profane words on the tape.

Worse, Bale vowed to leave the project if Hurlbut does the same mistake again without getting fired as a result. Hurlbut, for his part, was sorry, but he couldn’t possibly get into a yelling battle with the Terminator Salvation star.

Bale apologized for his tantrum on the Kevin and Bean program on L.A.’s KROQ radio station.

“It has been a miserable week for me,” Bale told the show’s hosts. “I know I have a potty mouth but I was way out of order.

“The thing that I want to stress is that I have no confusion whatsoever. I was out of order beyond belief. I acted like a punk.

“I regret that and there is nobody that has heard that tape that is hit harder by it than me. I make no excuses for it, it is inexcusable, and I hope that is absolutely clear.”

Bale, who played Batman in last year’s “The Dark Knight,” will play John Connor in the next sequel to “Terminator.”

He added: “The one thing that disturbs me so much is that I’ve heard a lot of people saying that I seem to think that I’m better than anybody else.

“Nothing could be farther from the truth. I am a lucky man, I never forget that and that is why I put so much into what I do, and why I care so much about it and why sometimes that enthusiasm just goes awry.”

Despite calling his almost four-minute rage “inexcusable,” the “Dark Knight” star blamed the outburst on the emotional moment he was filming and his overall involvement in the project.

Bale also expressed his hope that the backlash from his rant would not prevent fans from seeing “Terminator Salvation” when it comes out later this year.

“I’m asking people, please do not allow my one-time lapse in judgment, my incredibly embarrassing meltdown, to overshadow this movie and to have all of those people’s hard work (from the film’s cast and crew) go to waste.”

He said he “was trying to show a little of that ‘in the blood’ craziness” that put his character’s mother, Sarah Connor, in an insane asylum.

“And you know what? It went very wrong,” Bale said.

“I got annoyed and then what happened, I made it ugly and that was awful of me,” he said. “I took
it way too far and I completely mixed up fact and fiction. I’m half John Connor and half Christian there.”

The actor maintained that he and Hurlbut had settled their issues on the same day that the verbal assault occurred. “When I say ‘I’m not coming back on this set unless he’s fired’, it’s hot air,” he said. “I don’t want anyone to misunderstand this: I’ve seen a rough cut of the movie and he has done a really wonderful, professional job on this.”

Bale added: “I know some people are thinking, ‘I’m not going to see this movie’ because they think I’m a prima donna. Everybody worked so hard on this movie. Please, don’t allow my incredibly embarassing meltdown to overshadow this movie and to have all of those people’s hard work go to waste.”

Bale claims the two have reconciled.

“I’ve not only talked with [Shane], we have resolved this completely. That very day we kept working for a number of hours. … I have no intention of getting anybody fired.
