In a recent episode of the Dear Chelsea podcast, lifestyle guru Martha Stewart discussed her struggles in finding love.
Stewart, who divorced publisher Andrew Stewart in 1990, revealed that she had “two mad crushes in the last month,” but unfortunately, one of them is already married to the mother of some of her friends.
Despite her attraction, Stewart agrees with host Chelsea Handler that it’s important not to cross the line when it comes to pursuing a married person. “You can’t be a homewrecker,” Handler warned.
To this, Stewart replied, “I’ve never been a homewrecker and I’ve tried really hard not to be. I’ve had the opportunity to be a home-wrecker and I have not taken anybody up on it.”
While Stewart acknowledges the limitations of her dating pool, she refuses to compromise her principles.
“They’re all married to friends of mine or something like that,” she said.
Stewart, however, did suggest that becoming involved with a widower might be a viable option.
“Or maybe they’ll die,” she joked. “I always think, ‘Oh gosh, couldn’t that person just die?’ Not painfully, just die.”
Handler also pointed out the appeal of partnered behaviors, even if the person in question is unavailable.
“Sometimes the folks who are already partnered can radiate an attractive energy just because they’re demonstrating emotionally-present partnered behaviors,” Handler explained.
However, she warned that pursuing someone in a committed relationship is never a good idea.
Stewart’s love life has been the subject of much speculation over the years.
In 2019, she revealed to Harper’s Bazaar that she had tried online dating but had not found success.
“I haven’t found the next Mr. Right yet, but I’m hopeful,” she said.
Stewart’s openness about her struggles with dating has endeared her to fans.
“It’s comforting to know that even Martha Stewart has a hard time finding love,” one Twitter user wrote.
“She’s just like the rest of us!”
Despite her difficulties, Stewart has remained optimistic about finding love. “I believe in love,” she said on Dear Chelsea.
“I think it’s wonderful. I think it’s a great thing to aspire to and to be happy with.”
Stewart’s appearance on Dear Chelsea was part of a promotional tour for her new book, “Very Good Things: Recipes and Stories from My Life,” which was released in September 2021.
The book includes a collection of Stewart’s favorite recipes and stories from her personal and professional life.
Throughout her career, Stewart has built a reputation as a domestic goddess, offering advice on everything from cooking and gardening to home decor and entertaining.
She is the author of numerous books and has hosted several TV shows, including “Martha Stewart Living” and “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party.”
Stewart’s friendship with rapper Snoop Dogg has also been a source of entertainment for fans.
The unlikely duo has appeared on several TV shows together and even co-hosted a cooking show, “Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Party Challenge,” on VH1.
