Celebrities who admitted to using Steroids

In response to the often contentious inquiry “Do you use steroids?”, numerous celebrities or athletes tend to become tight-lipped and provide vague answers.

“I put in a lot of effort and commitment,” they might claim, or “No, man, I just consume creatine.”

Conversely, there are those who openly acknowledge using some kind of performance-enhancing substance.

Here are five individuals who have confessed to employing various types of steroids for a competitive advantage or to aid in recovery from intense workouts.

Steroids come in many forms, from the well-known HGH to the more recent SARMs (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators), and serve various purposes.

Consequently, not all of these celebrities have used the steroids commonly mentioned in films or news reports.

In the case of individuals like Joe Rogan, there may also be specific health advantages. Rogan, for example, underwent testosterone replacement therapy – a procedure many men use to restore their strength, libido, and more.

1 Joe Rogan, UFC commentator, podcaster, and stand-up comedian

“I’ve been on testosterone replacement therapy for nearly a decade,” Rogan shared on an episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

“I take doses equivalent to what my body naturally produced when I was 27—nothing excessive.”

2 Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, former WWE Superstar and actor

“I tried it,” Johnson confessed in a 2009 interview with MTV while promoting his film Race to Witch Mountain.

“My friends and I experimented with it when I was 18 or 19. We didn’t know what we were doing.”

3 Arnold Schwarzenegger, seven-time Mr. Olympia, actor, and ex-governor of California

“I don’t regret [using steroids],” Schwarzenegger informed ABC’s George Stephanopoulos during an interview.

“We were under doctors’ supervision. We were testing it. It was new. You can’t turn back time and say, ‘I’d change my mind now.’ ”

4 Mickey Rourke, actor and former boxer

In an interview with the New York Daily News, Rourke indirectly admitted to using steroids for his role in the 2009 movie, The Wrestler.

He stated: “When I’m a wrestler, I act like a wrestler,” alluding to the well-documented prevalence of steroid use in professional wrestling.

5 Sylvester Stallone, actor and director

Preparing for his lead role in Rambo, Stallone was apprehended at an Australian airport in 2008 for possessing bottles of HGH.

He later admitted to using the substance in various interviews (Time, The Today Show) but downplayed it by referring to the drug as “an amino acid” and comparing it to aspirin.
