A new book by former Church of Scientology executive Mike Rinder alleges that the church played a role in ending Tom Cruise’s marriage to Mimi Rogers so that he could marry Nicole Kidman.

Rinder’s book, titled “A Billion Years: My Escape From a Life in the Highest Ranks of Scientology,” includes an excerpt obtained by Page Six in which he claims that church leader David Miscavige and his colleague Greg Wilhere visited the set of “Days of Thunder” to see how they could make Cruise’s wishes of being with Kidman come true.

Wilhere was reportedly “assigned” to get Rogers to agree to a divorce so Cruise could marry Kidman.

According to Rinder, this intervention was “highly unusual and would never have happened with a normal Scientologist.”

The book claims that the church wanted to keep their A-list star happy, even if it meant causing unhappiness for another member like Rogers.

She reportedly left the church after divorcing Cruise.

A spokesperson for the Church of Scientology has called Rinder’s book “utterly ludicrous” and labeled the author “an inveterate liar who seeks to profit from his dishonesty.”

The spokesperson also accused Rinder of “orchestrating the harassment of his former Church and its leader through false police reports, incendiary propaganda, and fraudulent media stories.”

However, Rinder’s account of the events leading up to Cruise’s divorce from Rogers has been corroborated by Mark “Marty” Rathbun, a former executive in the church.

Rathbun has documented Miscavige’s interference in the end of Cruise’s marriages to both Rogers and Kidman in 2001.

The book suggests that Miscavige was willing to go to great lengths to keep Cruise happy and maintain his loyalty to the church.

Cruise has remained a loyal member of the church despite numerous allegations of misconduct and abuse.
