Natasha Lyonne is being purposefully mysterious regarding the highly anticipated second season of Russian Doll.

Netflix has revealed a series of pictures from the time-looping dark comedy’s second season, which will premiere this spring.

The Groundhog Day-inspired Netflix series was a word-of-mouth hit for the streaming platform in 2019 – but where can the show go next now that her character Nadia and Charlie Barnett’s Alan have escaped their endlessly fatal time loop in the season finale?

Season two will pick up four years after the first season’s time loop. Nadia and her time looping companion Alan, played by Charlie Barnett, will return in the second season. While exploring existential issues, the two will have to confront their own pasts.

Lyonne previewed the second season in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, stating, “The second season is “…definitely a wild ride. It is deep, and deeply off-the-wall.”

“I genuinely think the joy of the game is to watch it with fresh eyes as much as you can in order to be taken by the story,” she says.

“We all pushed ourselves to the limit of what we thought we could make happen visually and through the storytelling,” she continued. “”With my whole heart, I hope that people watch it all and see where the game goes and lands. I can’t believe we pulled it off.”

Lyonne loves the concept of “saddling up with a book in the attic and letting that world take you away on a journey. I do have this dream that people get to do that with this show,” as in one of her childhood favorites, The Neverending Story.

The goal for the second season is to completely immerse the audience in the tale, allowing them to vanish into it, which is a much-needed diversion for almost everyone right now.
