In a recent interview, Jordyn Woods discussed her “shame” when her encounter with Khloe Kardashian’s then-boyfriend Tristan Thompson made news in February 2019.

The model was in the heart of a Kardashian scandal when it was reported that she was seen getting close with Khloé Kardashian’s boyfriend at a party. Woods subsequently stated that Thompson kissed her on the lips during an emotional interview on Red Table Talk.

The incident shattered Woods’ relationship with the Kardashians, effectively ruining her friendship with Kylie and forcing Khloe to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers star. If that wasn’t enough, the whole ordeal was accompanied by a deluge of internet criticism. Jordyn was publicly humiliated and called a “homewrecker.”

Woods, 23, has spoken up about the public controversy and how she dealt with the guilt she felt in the aftermath in a new interview on the YouTube series Now With Natalie.

“I remember just sitting in a very dark place and I didn’t really … You know, I had my family to talk to, I had you to talk to but I felt like I had no one,” Woods said. “You take everything you think you know for a whole decade, the people you think you know, the life you think you know, everything that you’ve grown up doing and you take it all away from someone. I didn’t even know how to feel.”

The model recalls isolating herself when the controversy emerged because of the online criticism she was experiencing. Things got so ugly at one point that “Girls” star Lena Dunham slammed Woods’ “massive public shaming.” “I deleted everything off of my phone. I wouldn’t respond to anyone, I responded to about two people. The 23 year old continued, I pushed people away that probably shouldn’t have been pushed away but I just couldn’t trust anyone. Everything in my life changed,” she admitted.

“Looking at the situation, ‘Okay what did I do, what role did I play in this, how was I responsible, how can I be held accountable, how can I take responsibility for what happened?’ Things happen and that’s what makes us human,” she said. “But just acceptance and accountability and responsibility. I feel like people in this generation lack accountability and when you can’t accept what you’ve done or you can’t accept that, then you can’t heal from.”

Woods seemed to regard the event as a watershed moment in his life. “When your whole world feels like it’s crumbling down, everything you thought you knew, it’s really to be rebuilt again but much stronger,” she said. “The amount of strength I’ve gained in this year alone, nothing else could have shaped me to the person I am today.”

“It’s easy to beat yourself up over things you could have done differently,” Jordyn remarked when asked how she manages her accountability without allowing it to haunt her. “But you can’t hold on to what you could have or should have done. You just have to accept what actually happened and then you can let it go. It might take you a month to let it go, it might take you a year to let it go but you have to start praying to be able to let it go.”

While Woods has moved on from her feud with the Kardashians, she still harbors resentment for what happened.

“I’m not happy that people were hurt and people had to go through what they went through,” she said. “It was a lot for everyone, my family, other families, friends, and not in a million years have I had a negative intention to do something bad to anyone I love. I wouldn’t say I’m happy something like that happened, but I’m happy I was able to become who I am today.”
