John Mulaney has reportedly filed for divorce from his wife of six years, Anna Marie Tendler.

According to court papers obtained by PEOPLE, the comedian, 38, filed in New York on Friday. There was no more information available at the time of publication, and a lawyer representing Mulaney did not reply to a request for comment.

The couple announced their split in May, but only recently filed for divorce. Anna Marie Tendler issued a statement, expressing her “heartbreak” at John’s decision to end their marriage.

She wrote in a statement at the time, “I am heartbroken that John has decided to end our marriage. I wish him support and success as he continues his recovery.”

The former Saturday Night Live writer had booked himself into treatment five months prior after a suspected drug addiction relapse.

Mulaney finished his 60-day treatment term in February and was continuing his recovery work as an outpatient, according to PEOPLE. Mulaney has since returned to the stage for well-received stand-up gigs titled “From Scratch.”

Before their divorce, John Mulaney and Anna Marie Tendler were married for over seven years. The pair married in 2014, with Dan Levy of ‘Schitt’s Creek’ officiating their wedding ceremony. Mulaney is presently dating Olivia Munn, an actress. John’s relationship with Olivia was revealed just three days after the comedian announced his divorce from his now-ex-wife. Munn and Mulaney had been pals for a long time until their friendship evolved into anything more, according to an E news source. Olivia was also highly supportive of John’s rehabilitation, according to the source.

The celebrity couple met on social media some years ago and have stayed friends. Munn, 40, texted Mulaney best wishes after he entered treatment in December.

“Sending SO MUCH love and support to John Mulaney. You got this,” she tweeted at time.

“[They] have known each other for a while and always been friendly.” The source said.

Describing Munn as “very supportive” of Mulaney’s recovery journey, the insider noted, “She will continue to help him in whatever ways she can and be there for him.”

According to Vanity Fair, a spokeswoman for Mulaney said in a separate statement, “John will not have any further comment as he continues to focus on his recovery and getting back to work.”

John and Olivia were first seen out together in late June, having a low-key lunch date in Los Angeles. An insider told PEOPLE at the time, “They were having a great time during lunch, laughing and talking. They were really enjoying each other’s company.”

John Mulaney voiced Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018. The film was a critical and financial hit. At the 91st Academy Awards, the film won Best Animated Feature. Since Rango, the film was the first non-Disney/Pixar picture to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature (2011).

When asked about the rumors about her relationship status in a New Beauty interview, Munn maintained there’s more to the story.

“I think what’s more surprising is how much is incorrect,” The Predator star remarked. “There is so much attention on things that aren’t the truth. And if you speak up and try to say the truth, you’re accused of being messy or just not believed. I’ve gotten used to it, but it hasn’t made it easier.”
