Rachel Zegler, an up-and-coming actress, has responded to critics who claim a Latina cannot play Snow White by stating that she has no intentions to bleach her complexion for the part.

‘I HAVE MANIFESTED MY ENTIRE LIFE I THINK I THINK,’ the West Side Story actress, who is of Colombian and Polish origin, exclaimed on social media after being confirmed for the part on Tuesday.

She later retaliated against a few detractors who questioned her casting as the traditionally white figure.

Rachel tweeted in response to the critics of her Disney debut, saying, “Yes, I am Snow White. No, I am not bleaching my skin for the role.

Rachel’s casting has received generally positive feedback, with fans taking to Twitter to express their joy.

‘My favourite upcoming, HISPANIC, actress is playing my favourite princess,’ one fan said.

‘Congrats!!! I just KNOW you’re going to kill it as the OG Disney princess,’ another suggested.

‘I CANT BELIEVE IT OMG YES RACHEL REAL LIFE DISNEY PRINCESS OHMYGOD,’ one said.

Snow White is described as the “fairest one of all” with “skin as white as snow” in the famous fable.

After being cast as Ariel in Disney’s proposed remake of “The Little Mermaid” R&B singer Halle Bailey got similar backlash. Since singer Brandy played Cinderella in 1997, she is the first black princess in a live-action Disney film.

In a statement released with the casting news, Marc Webb, the director of the live-action Snow White film, mirrored most Disney fans’ praise for Rachel.

In an AFP statement, he said, ‘Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts.’

‘Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale.’

Rachel also released a video on Twitter of herself twirling her skirt next to a Snow White actor, demonstrating how hard she had been practicing for the part.

Snow White is slated to begin filming in 2022.
