Evan Rachel Wood, the actor, has spoken out again again about surviving an abusive relationship. And this time, she’s mentioning names: the man she claims groomed and abused her is Brian Warner, better known as Marilyn Manson, a washed-up Goth-rock dork.

In a message uploaded on her Instagram account on Monday, Wood claimed for the first time that Manson was her abuser.

“The name of my abuser is Brian Warner, also known to the world as Marilyn Manson,” Wood wrote. “He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”

According to Vanity Fair, four more women, standing in solidarity with Wood, came out with charges of psychological torture and sexual assault against Manson.

“Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy,” Manson said in an Instagram post on Monday evening, “but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality.”

“My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how – and why – others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth, ” he added.

Wood spoke before the House Judiciary Subcommittee in 2018 about her sexual assault experience in order to help enact the Sexual Assault Survivors Bill of Rights in all 50 states. “My experience with domestic violence was this: Toxic mental, physical and sexual abuse which started slow but escalated over time, including threats against my life, severe gaslighting and brainwashing, waking up to the man that claimed to love me raping what he believed to be my unconscious body,” she said, keeping her abuser’s identity a secret at the time.

Dan Cleary, a guitarist who travelled with Manson, previously stated on Twitter that Manson transformed Wood “into a different person” while on tour, adding, “He broke her.”

“I then started working for him as his personal assistant in 2014-2015,” Cleary said. “I saw first-hand, over and over, him being an abusive violent boyfriend to his [girlfriend] Lindsay. Over the almost two-year stretch I saw her in tears and him screaming and belittling her more often than I didn’t.

“He would threaten to kill her, cut her up, bury her, embarrass her to the world. Making her cry and fear him made him feel good. He would remind her that she’d be homeless without him and make fun of her learning disabled family member.”

Cleary stated that numerous members of Manson’s inner circle were aware of the alleged abuse but remained silent due to “the code” and a fear of losing their jobs.

From 2007 through 2010, Evan Rachel Wood and Marilyn Manson were involved. Their romance began when she was 18 and he was 36 years old.
