Dee Snider Slams Kiss Over replacement members’ makeup

Deen Snider recently discussed his displeasure with Kiss allowing replacement members to wear the iconic stage makeup worn by founding guitarist Frehley and drummer Criss on the Appetite for Distortion podcast.

Tommy Thayer, the band’s guitarist, joined in 2002, and Eric Singer, the band’s drummer, joined in 1991 after Eric Carr’s death. Ace Frehley’s and Peter Criss’ makeup creations are presently worn by Thayer and Singer, respectively.

Snider, who used make-up for his band’s videos and gigs, believes the Kiss founders should have discarded the appearance when Criss and Frehley were thrown out.

He stated, “I hate what Kiss is doing. I hate what Kiss is doing with the guys with Ace and Peter’s makeup on — I’m not a fan.”

It’s not the first time Dee has slammed Simmons and Stanley for their stage make-up on Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer.

In 2015, Snider slammed Kiss’ makeup decision. He told Eddie Trunk, “I don’t see how people could accept this. Tommy Thayer? I’m sorry. It’s insulting. Not only did he play with a tribute band of Kiss, he’s imitating Ace in his entire act!”

These remarks irritated Kiss’ Paul Stanley, who said some harsh things about Snider on the Talk Is Jericho podcast in 2015. “Let me put it in the simplest terms. In this case, this guy is a wannabe, has always been a wannabe and desperately wants attention and to be taken seriously,” he explained.

“That will never happen because he’s obviously clueless to the fact that he and his whole band are a bunch of buffoons.”

Snider’s most recent statement was in answer to an inquiry concerning band reunions, namely Guns N’ Roses.

“When I left Twisted and I went out at some point and I was doing Twisted music, I never even thought of calling it Twisted Sister without the other four guys,” he remarked. “‘Everyone is saying, ‘But you’re Twisted Sister; you wrote the songs.’ … I said, ‘That’s not Twisted Sister.’ And I won’t do that out of respect for the other members of the band. I could’ve made a lot more money doing that, but I would not do that.”
