Emilia Clarke still recoils at the prospect of having to eat a prosthetic horse’s heart for a scene in HBO’s blockbuster fantasy show Game Of Thrones, since it tasted like “bleach and raw pasta.”

The actress told the Daily Mirror about the “truly disgusting” moment she ate the meat substitute created from solidified jam for a particularly gory scene. As part of an old Dothraki rite, a pregnant Daenerys was forced to consume a stallion’s heart in season one.

Ms. Clarke had to push down “roughly 28 hearts,” which wasn’t easy.

Clarke didn’t even have to act freaked out while filming because the food prop was that disgusting.

‘It was very helpful to be given something so truly disgusting to eat, so there wasn’t much acting required,’ she told The Mirror.

Clarke, who previously claimed that she was constantly doubting herself and her actions during her early days on the program, went on to say that she has no regrets since she is living her dream.

“It’s what I wanted to do since I was just three,” she said. “My father worked as a sound engineer at the theatre and often took me to the performances. I saw the musical ‘Show Boat’ and from that moment on I knew [acting] was for me.”

Clarke has now gone on to ride phantom dragons, crowd surf, and amass an army that should make her the favorite in the next Westeros fight. She also has the highest chance of surviving the following eight episodes. It’s probably worth ingesting a synthetic horse heart.

Emilia returns as Daenerys, Mother of Dragons, in the seventh season of Game of Thrones, which premiered in the United States on Sunday (16Jul17), and with producers planning to wrap the series next year (18), the actress has begun to consider her next career move – and she would love to put her talents to the test in a stage musical.

“I want to continue working in theatre – I love performing in front of an audience. Even a musical,” she said.

“I’m probably going to make my fair share of good and bad choices, but fate and luck are all part of the game,” Emilia said. “At the moment I just get so excited arriving at the Thrones set each day. It’s like beginning another great adventure.”

Emilia has said that her early seasons on the program made her doubt herself and her choices.

‘I was plagued by self-doubt and anxiety,’ she told the Daily Telegraph in Australia.

But the British beauty stated that it was through her darkest hours that she was forced to grow into the woman she is today.

‘I want to keep learning and never stop working on myself so that I can be more open and engaged in whatever I do,’ Emilia remarked.
