After being assaulted by an intruder in her North Carolina home on Friday, June 17, Kelly McGillis said she planned to apply for a concealed carry gun permit.

A strange woman, now identified as Laurence Marie Dorn, 38, was reportedly ransacking her $300,000 home when she returned home after a lecture at about 9 p.m.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the actress revealed she had been assaulted by the lady on Facebook.

When the actress was asked who she was, the woman claimed McGillis was stalking her on Twitter (McGillis says she has no idea who the woman is and had never had any interactions with her, in person or on social media).

“Upon entering the house I notice a pair of girls pink sandals and a black larger pair,” McGillis stated. She first assumed her daughter was at home and called out to her multiple times.

“[But then] a stranger, a woman, came barreling down the hallway and began yelling at me. I asked her who she is and why she was in my house and she said ‘you know why you’ve been stalking me in Twitter.’ Not true.”

Charges of second-degree burglary, misdemeanor larceny, misdemeanor stalking, assault and battery, and interference with emergency communication have all been brought against Marie Dorn, according to ABC 11.

The 58-year-old reported that she keeps firearms and ammo in her house and was worried that one of the burglars had taken them.

“That’s when I started to panic” and “ran out the front door and called 911.”

McGillis can be heard crying for assistance in a tape of a call she made to 911 at 9.17 p.m. on the night of the incident.

“Right now, help me!” she yelled.

McGillis claims she attempted to flee, but was accosted by the lady, who “kicked her to the ground, scratched her, and pulled her hair.” She managed to set off her vehicle alarm during the scuffle, scaring the intruder just long enough for Kelly to flee.

McGillis dashed to her car and drove away. She ultimately flagged down another driver, who assisted her by dialing 911.

‘There was no one around since it was Friday night, so I chased someone in a car, kept flashing my lights and honking the horn. They finally pulled over and she made the 911 call for me.’

McGillis said she was “scratched and bruised,” but added that she is “very thankful it turned out well.”

“But who I feel heartache for is the little girl that was with her,” she continued. “Mental illness takes many hostages. I don’t know her name … but I would like to asked that you pray for her and her mother.”

She thanked friends and supporters for their well-wishes in a subsequent Facebook post, but said she was still disturbed.

‘I do have an alarm. I was complacent and didn’t set it after living here four years and having nothing happen. My bad,’ she wrote.
