Jean-Claude Van Damme is 53 years old, yet he doesn’t look like it.

The action actor echoes part of what he said to Corliss back in 2009 in a voice-over that runs over the opening of a new Volvo commercial. “I’ve had my ups and downs. My fair share of bumpy roads and heavy winds. That’s what made me what I am today,” says Van Damme, 53. “Now I stand here before you. What you see is a body crafted to perfection.” Then, set to an Enya soundtrack, Van Damme performs one of the most amazing splits ever seen between two trucks.

The idea is simple: JCVD sits on the side mirrors of two Volvo trucks while they reverse in parallel.

The trucks began to veer apart from each other, giving rise to the spectacle’s name: Epic Splits, with Van Damme’s legs spreading along with them. This continues until Van Damme is split in half over a 6- to 7-foot distance.

According to the ad’s YouTube page, the action “was set up to demonstrate the precision and directional stability of Volvo Dynamic Steering — a world first technology that makes the new Volvo FM easier to drive,” but the video really depicts Van Damme as a full and total badass.

Van Damme, who famously did the splits in such memorable movies as “Bloodsport,” tells us he has “a pair of legs engineered to defy the laws of physics, and a mindset to master the most epic of splits.”

On Friday, Marie Vassiliadis of Volvo Trucks media relations told TODAY.com, “The stunt is real and shot in one take without any breaks. There was safety equipment in place which is not visible in the film.”

The stunt was carried out in a controlled environment by two experienced drivers. Van Damme said he chose to take part in the “epic split” because the idea was “amazing.”

The actor’s incredible acrobatics video was uploaded to YouTube on Wednesday and has already received over millions views.
