During the production of “Now You See Me,” Isla Fisher had a near-death encounter.

Fisher portrayed Henley Reeves, sometimes known as The High Priestess, in the first installment of this iconic series about theatrical illusionists. She could escape from numerous devices employing many of the same concepts utilized by luminaries like Harry Houdini as an escape artist and magician.

Isla Fisher stated on Chelsea Lately that she was trapped underwater for over three minutes while filming a sequence for her film.

“I was actually drowning,” she said.

“Everyone thought I was acting fabulously … no one realized I was actually struggling.”

The actress ran into difficulties while filming a magic trick in a water tank when her release chain was snagged in her outfit.

“My chain got stuck. I had to really swim to the bottom; I couldn’t get up,” she said.

While she attempted to dismiss the situation as amusing, she joked, “Who wants to die in a swimming costume?”

Fisher was able to flee owing to a quick-release mechanism and a nearby stuntman.

However, while Fisher originally downplayed the near-death incident, she later admitted to Chelsea Handler that the encounter was terrible.

Chelsea Handler responded to Fisher’s account by recounting an event that occurred on the set of “Jaws.”

Handler said, “Stuff happens in water that should not happen.”
