Jennifer Aniston spoke about her heartbreak after her divorce from Brad Pitt in an unearthed Vanity Fair interview from September 2005.

At the time, Jennifer was 36 years old and had just finished filming her final scenes for the iconic show Friends.

Meanwhile, Brad was working on the film Mr and Mrs Smith with Angelina Jolie.

The pair later admitted to falling in love on set, and in January 2005, Brad and Jennifer announced their separation.

Two months before their divorce was even finalised, rumours were circulating that Angelina was pregnant with Brad’s child.

When the interviewer asked Jennifer about the rumours, she cried silently for several minutes, unable to stop the tears rolling down her cheeks.

The interviewer noted that Jennifer looked like she had been “stabbed in the heart” and shaken by the news.

However, Jennifer stated that she had made a conscious choice to believe Brad when he said that his decision to end their marriage was not about another woman.

Despite her belief in Brad, Jennifer’s trust was shaken when photos surfaced of him playing with Angelina’s adopted son Maddox on the beach in Africa on April 29, 2005.

“I would be a robot if I said I didn’t feel moments of anger, of hurt, of embarrassment,” Jennifer said in the interview.

“I just don’t know what happened. There’s a lot I don’t understand, a lot I don’t know, and probably never will know, really.”

Brad and Angelina have always denied any romantic involvement while he was still with Jennifer.

Although Jennifer was devastated by the divorce, she insisted that she “felt lucky to have experienced” her marriage to Brad, whom she described as “fantastic.”

She stated that she would love him for the rest of her life.

Brad went on to marry Angelina, but their marriage ended in a bitter divorce in 2016, with a custody battle still ongoing.

Despite their divorce, Brad and Jennifer have remained good friends over the years. In 2017, Brad apologized to Jennifer for the hurt he caused her during their divorce.

“It was the most intimate conversation Brad and Jen have ever had,” a source said at the time. Brad admitted to being an “absentee husband” and “stoned and bored much of the time.”

He made amends to Jennifer for leaving her for Angelina, according to the same source.

Despite their tumultuous history, Jennifer and Brad continue to maintain a cordial relationship.

They were spotted interacting at the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards, where Jennifer won an award for her role in The Morning Show.

Fans of the former couple continue to root for a reconciliation, but both Brad and Jennifer have stated that they are happy being just friends.
