The rumors surrounding the death of the late comedian Andy Kaufman have once again been sparked after an unknown woman claimed to be his daughter.

The revelation took place at the annual Andy Kaufman Awards, which was held at the Gotham Comedy Club on Monday night.

Michael Kaufman, Andy’s brother, introduced the woman and spoke about how he discovered an essay written by Andy that detailed plans to fake his death.

“I witnessed the entire thing and I can tell you without a doubt this was not a prank,” said Al Parinello, a lifelong friend of the comedian and producer of the awards.

Michael was instructed to meet his brother at a specific restaurant on Christmas Eve 1999.

Michael followed these instructions and was approached by a stranger who handed him a typed letter that was allegedly from Andy.

The letter read, “everything was great in his life and he just wanted to get away from being Andy Kaufman.”

The comedian, known for his strange alter egos like Tony Clifton, fell in love with a woman and the couple raised a daughter together.

The daughter, now 24 years old, had recently made contact with Michael and accompanied him to the awards.

The woman, wearing a black dress with a pattern of colored bows, took the stage and told the crowd that her alleged father “is alive.”

She added that the passing of her grandfather, Stanley Kaufman, made him want to reach out to his brother.

Ed Cavanagh, the showroom manager at the Gotham Comedy Club, said, “You could see by the look on [Michael’s] face that it had an emotional impact on him.”

He added that he was unsure whether the woman’s story was true or if someone was perpetrating something on Michael.

Parinello, who was a close friend of Kaufman and saw his body at the funeral, says he is convinced of the story’s authenticity.

“Andy was an aficionado of meditation,” he explains.

“One of the things Andy was taught at the highest level was a process where one could slow down his breath to a point where you can literally fool anyone that you may be dead when in fact you are alive.”

Michael Kaufman told The Hollywood Reporter that the woman claiming to be his daughter was impossible to reach but didn’t explain why.

He then excused himself saying he had a dinner date with his wife.

The death of Andy Kaufman has been surrounded by rumors and speculation since the official records state that he died of lung cancer in 1984 at the age of 35.

However, the recent claims have once again sparked interest in the possibility that Kaufman faked his own death.

Many in attendance at the awards found the presentation to be emotional, with some people even bursting into tears.

The room reportedly fell silent as Michael read the letter that was allegedly from Andy.

The event has sparked a lot of discussion and speculation about the possibility that Andy Kaufman is still alive.

Although the woman’s identity and claims remain unverified, the presentation at the awards ceremony has definitely reignited interest in one of the biggest mysteries surrounding the death of a beloved comedian.
