Actress Melissa Archer has fired back at an agent who told her she was “too fat” to get lead roles.

Archer, who starred in the soap operas One Life to Live and Days of Our Lives, took to Twitter to reveal the encounter and to encourage others not to listen to such negativity.

“I had an agent once tell me that at a size four I was too fat and all I could hope for was the homely friend parts,” she said.

“I left that agent, got managers that believed in me, a new agent, and booked a lead role for over a decade on a TV show. So eff what people think. #DoYou.”

Archer’s lead role was playing Natalie Buchanan on One Life to Live, which she starred in from 2001 until the show’s cancellation in 2011.

She also appeared in the short-lived online revival of the show in 2013, as well as a stint as Serena Mason on Days of Our Lives from 2014-15.

She has also appeared in streaming soaps Youthful Daze, The Bay, and Beacon Hill.

The actress revealed that she and her One Life to Live co-star, Jessica Morris, have written a new movie called Web of Deceit that they are also starring in.

When asked by a fan if the agent who made the comment about her weight is still in the business, Archer replied: “No.”

Archer’s Twitter post received a lot of support from fans who praised her for speaking out and for not letting the agent’s comments hold her back.

Many also shared their own experiences of being told they were not good enough because of their appearance.

Archer’s post is a reminder that people in the entertainment industry should not be judged solely on their appearance and that talent should always be the most important factor in casting decisions.
