Following Mike Richards’ sudden departure, Mayim Bialik will serve as temporary host of “Jeopardy!,” a Sony Pictures Television spokesperson confirmed to NBC News.

When filming starts this week, Bialik, who guest hosted earlier this year in the aftermath of Alex Trebek’s death, is set to tape three weeks of programs (15 episodes). As the hunt for a permanent presenter of the Sony Pictures Television program resumes, more guest hosts will be revealed.

“It is an incredible honor to guest host ‘Jeopardy!’ I was raised in a very creative and academic family, but it wasn’t until high school that I fell in love with science, and that love led me to a PhD in neuroscience,” Bialik said during her guest-hosting debut. “I so appreciate that ‘Jeopardy!’ is a show that tests all aspects of intellect and allows the brightest minds to shine.”

Sony Pictures TV revealed earlier this month that executive producer Richards would succeed iconic presenter Alex Trebek as the face of the quiz program.

After several scandals from his background surfaced in the previous few weeks, Richards stepped down as host of the syndicated Jeopardy! The five episodes that were filmed with him will broadcast. Richards made rude and sexist statements against his female co-hosts and guests on The Randumb Show, a podcast he produced in 2013 and 2014, as well as off-color remarks regarding Haitians and Jews, according to a Ringer article. The issue caused the Anti-Defamation League to request an investigation from Jeopardy! producer Sony Pictures Television, and it proved to be too much for Richards to overcome without damaging the renowned Jeopardy! brand.

Following Trebek’s passing in November, more than a dozen people — including previous top competitors and celebrities — stepped in as interim guest presenters for Season 37 of the game.

Richards will reportedly remain the show’s executive producer. The episodes he taped on his first and only day as a permanent host of ‘Jeopardy!’ will air on September 13.

Richards apologized in a statement released last week. Richards’ decision to resign was praised by Sony.

According to a Sony Pictures Television representative, new “Jeopardy!” episodes will premiere on September 13th.

Bialik is best recognized for her award-winning performance as Amy Farrah Fowler on CBS’s smash sitcom The Big Bang Theory. She holds a PhD in neuroscience. Bialik is currently starring in and executive producing Fox’s Call Me Kat. She also hosts the mental health podcast “Mayim Bialik’s Breakdown,” and she just wrote and directed As Sick As They Made Us, which stars Dustin Hoffman and Candice Bergen.

Apart from Mayim Bialik, the search for a permanent host has included Anderson Cooper, Katie Couric, Bill Whitaker, Dr. Mehmet Oz, George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts, LeVar Burton, Savannah Guthrie, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Aaron Rodgers, and former contestants Ken Jennings and Ken Jennings, among others.
