According to reports, Bill Gates mentioned “messing up” during his marriage to Melinda French Gates at Allen & Co.’s billionaire-packed Sun Valley conference last week.

Bill Gates’ divorce from wife Melinda French was one of the most talked-about issues in May of this year, causing quite a commotion in the corporate sector. While the pair did not provide a specific explanation for their decision, many observers pointed to Gates’ previous infamous indiscretions and the couple’s 27-year loveless marriage. To add fuel to the flames, the billionaire recently acknowledged that he was a contributing factor in his divorce.

During an ‘off the record’ question-and-answer session at the conference, the billionaire philanthropist was allegedly questioned by CNBC presenter Becky Quick about his divorce.

“He confessed up to messing up,” stated one of the attendees. “He basically referred to the fact that [the divorce] was his fault.”

“He did seem a bit emotional about it,” the attendee said. “He might have been on the verge of tears.”

According to another account, he did not mention the term “affair” in his response. While some people were moved by Gates’ confession, others were annoyed by his unpleasant and irritated attitude throughout the occasion.

After his divorce from Melinda Gates, 56, was announced in May, rumors of his alleged extramarital relationships and questions about the nature of his relation with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein surfaced.

Bill Gates sought marital counseling from convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein during dozens of visits at his $77 million Manhattan townhouse between 2011 and 2014, according to The Daily Beast, much more than previously reported.

“After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage,” the couple earlier announced in a joint statement on Twitter.

“We no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives,” they said.

“We ask for space and privacy for our family as we begin to navigate this next life.”

According to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft has investigated Gates on reports that he had a sexual relationship with a Microsoft employee for many years.

The affair was revealed when a Microsoft employee detailed it in a letter to the board in 2019 – and reportedly requested that Gates’ estranged wife see the message.

His spokesperson acknowledged that he had an affair almost 20 years ago, but claimed it had nothing to do with his decision to quit Microsoft’s board of directors.

Requests for response from Microsoft and the Gates Foundation were referred to Gates Ventures, which refused to respond.

According to Vanity Fair, Gates had affairs that were known to people around him.

The New York Post said the pair has had a difficult relationship for years and has been living apart.

Many people are curious about the fate of ‘Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation,’ which was founded in 2000. French will quit the foundation in over two years if she is unable to cooperate with her ex-husband, according to the charity. Since its inception, the couple has donated more than $55 billion to the foundation. The foundation will be co-owned by the couple for the next two years.

Melinda said in her divorce papers that the marriage was “irretrievably broken.”

While the inquiry was still ongoing, Gates resigned from the Microsoft board of directors in March 2020.

Gates was lined to speak on climate change at the Sun Valley conference, often known as the “billionaire summer camp,” according to sources at the event.
