After leaving the Royal Family, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex claimed they had “no plan” and hadn’t contemplated the megabucks deals until a friend mentioned it.

After being financially cut off from the royals, Harry and Meghan allegedly secured lucrative agreements with Netflix and Spotify to cover large security costs.

‘That was suggested by somebody else by the point of where my family literally cut me off financially, and I had to afford security for us,’ Harry, 36, claimed, insisting that their agreements with the streaming giants, which are said to be valued up to $100 million, were ‘never part of the plan.’

‘During COVID, the suggestion by a friend was, “What about streamers?”‘ Harry continued, while Meghan added: ‘We genuinely hadn’t thought about it before.’

‘We hadn’t thought about it,’ Harry continued. ‘So, there were all sorts of different options. And look, from my perspective, all I needed was enough money to be able to pay for security to keep my family safe.’

“Life is about storytelling,” added Markle. “For us to be able to have storytelling through a truthful lens that is hopefully uplifting is going to be great, knowing how many people that can land with and be able to give a voice to a lot of people that are underrepresented and aren’t really heard.”

Prince Harry said that his father, Prince Charles, had stopped accepting his calls for a period of time and that he had been cut off at the beginning of 2020.

The pair said that they had no option but to leave since the institution provided no support, and Meghan stated that she “didn’t want to be alive anymore”

In the shocking interview, Harry claimed that he was only able to walk away from royal life because of money given to him by his late mother, Princess Diana.

He said: “I’ve got what my mum left me, and without that, we would not have been able to do this.”

When Harry and Meghan initially announced that they were leaving their positions as senior working royals, there was considerable concern about who would foot the huge cost for their security – a topic they brought up many times during their explosive interview with Oprah.

In September, it was reported that the pair had signed a multiyear contract with Netflix to create exclusive material such as documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted programs, and children’s programming valued at £100 million, as well as another with Spotify valued at about £30 million.

The pair also disclosed that Tyler Perry, who loaned Harry and Meghan his $18 million Beverly Hills home when they initially relocated to Los Angeles, also paid for their security while they were living there.

Harry said: “The biggest concern was that while we were in Canada, in someone else’s house, and then I got told short notice that security was going to be removed.

“So suddenly it dawned on me, hang on a second, the borders could be closed, we’re going to have our security removed, who knows how long lockdown is going to be.

“The world knows where we are. It’s not safe. It’s not secure.”

During the two-hour conversation, Meghan said that she had written to the Royal Family pleading for Harry’s security to be paid indefinitely after receiving death threats.

‘I even wrote letters to his family saying, “Please, it’s very clear the protection of me or Archie is not a priority. I accept that, that is fine. Please keep my husband safe. I see the death threats. I see the racist propaganda.

‘”Please keep him safe, please don’t pull his security and announce to the world when he and we are most vulnerable.” And they it’s just not possible.’

It was one of several revelations from the interview that are likely to exacerbate the schism between the Sussexes and the royal family.
