Christina Hendricks, who portrayed Joan Holloway on the historical drama series Mad Men from 2007 to 2015, claimed that while the male stars of the program were immediately celebrated, it took a bit for the female stars to be recognized.

The actress reminisced on how, despite her “hard work” on the AMC period drama, she was repeatedly asked about her bra in a recent interview with The Guardian. She was nominated for a total of six Emmys for her performance.

‘There certainly was a time when we were very critically acclaimed, and getting a lot of attention for our very good work and our very hard work, and everyone just wanted to ask me about my bra,’ Joan added, referring to a focus with her figure.

After the Me Too movement, the actress talked about sexism and harassment in the industry, saying she doesn’t know ‘one model or actor’ who hasn’t experienced it.

“I have had moments — not on Mad Men; on other things — where people have tried to take advantage of me, use my body in a way I wasn’t comfortable with, persuade me or coerce me or professionally shame me: ‘If you took your work seriously, you would do this … ‘ ”

The actress “knew to immediately get on the phone and go, ‘Uh oh, trouble,’ ” she recounted of her own experience.

Hendricks told The Guardian, “That’s where it’s very much a job. We need to talk to the producers and handle this professionally.”

Despite the issues, Christina stated that entertainment receives a lot of attention since its stars are well-known, adding that she’s “sure the same thing happens” in other professions where individuals aren’t well-known.

Mad Men starred Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss, January Jones, and John Slattery and explored the complex lives of personnel at a 1960s Manhattan advertising firm.

Although the actress is adamant about avoiding discussing her bra, she just revealed something unusual about her hands. She tweeted in 2019 that her hand was included in the Oscar-winning film American Beauty’s poster.

“Fun fact…. wait for it…I used to be a model and sometimes a hand model…. this is my hand and another model’s stomach,” she shared. “Proud to be a part if this film in ANY WAY!!”

Christina is now starring as one of the major characters in Good Girls, a comedy-drama about three suburban mothers who conspire to rob a grocery store. The comedy, which also features Retta and Mae Whitman, first aired in 2018 and just finished its third season last month. The show has been picked up for a fourth season.
