Millie Bobby Brown, who appeared in the first season of Netflix’s popular sci-fi thriller “Stranger Things” in 2016, looks more like one of those pinup-ready actresses from romantic movies than the intense child actress who swept sci-fi lovers off their feet.

She was recently asked about her first onscreen kiss with Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler in Season 2, and she stated it was “the most awkward thing in the world”—mainly since her entire family was watching.

“My dad was watching. My dad watched the whole thing, my whole family was there, and it was the most awkward thing in the world. It’s awkward,” she said during a roundtable discussion at The Ritz-Carlton in Tokyo.

“We’re 15 years old. It’s not like, all right, let’s just do it. We’re obviously like, ‘Okay… what do you wanna do now? Shall we hug?’ No idea what to do. There’s not really preparation.”

But for the young actor, who has received 27 award nominations for the smash series, a little shame is a small price to pay.

The Duffer Brothers, aka the series’ creators, received a lot of backlash after she confessed that they had little to no preparation when it came to the kissing sequences between the young actors. For the majority of the youngsters, it was their first kiss, and the Duffer Brothers did little to comfort them.

According to Variety, “Whenever we make them kiss, it’s like, oh my god, it’s like a two-month buildup to that.”

“Give me a break!” Matt Duffer said. “They had to kiss three times. You’d think it’s the end of the world, but I guess it’s a big deal. Caleb, I think it was his first kiss. It was definitely Sadie’s first kiss. I know that. But then even Millie and Finn had never kissed before. It was still huge. Actually, though, neither of those kisses were written in the script, so we kind of dropped that on them the day of and caused a major panic. But they did it.”

Millie does not have a boyfriend, despite being romantically linked to David Beckham’s 16-year-old son Romeo.

The actress landed the role after sending an audition tape in which she wept on cue.

She has also appeared in small roles on Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, and Modern Family.

The 15-year-old also expressed her delight at the fact that her first kiss had been immortalized.

“At the end of the day, on the other aspect of it, without my dad knowing, it’s so cool to have your first kiss, on screen,” she remarked.

“So I can show people when I’m older like, this was my first kiss onscreen. Some people take it in a negative way, I take it in a positive way, I think it’s really cool,” she added.
