Lana Del Rey has admitted to sleeping with “a lot of guys” in the music business, but claims that none of them “helped me get my record deals.”

She says it outright in a recent interview with Complex magazine about her new album. Specifically, while discussing her song “F–ked My Way to the Top,” del Rey says, “You know, I have slept with a lot of guys in the industry, but none of them helped me get my record deals. Which is annoying.” She readily admits to doing the rounds in music town, but that is not how she rose to fame.

“I f***ed my way up to the top, this is my show/ I f***ed my way up to the top, go, baby, go,” the song’s lyrics say.

Del Rey claimed the worst advice she’s ever gotten was that “love doesn’t come easily and that relationships are supposed to be a struggle,” which she described as “old-fashioned romance.” The New York native admitted that she was the one who ended her three-year romance with Barrie-James O’Neill, her boyfriend/fiance.

Del Rey stated, “Definitely demolished that through tons of depression and insecurity. Now it’s just an untenable relationship, impossible because of my emotional instability… The world was heavy for a couple years.”

“I like a physical love. I like a hands-on love,” she said, explaining that physicality was the most essential aspect of a relationship to her.

“How can I say this without getting into too much trouble? I like a tangible, passionate love. For me, if it isn’t physical, I’m not interested.”

Del Rey explained what being in a “good place” means: “Feeling really happy and just circumstantially like nothing’s going wrong, which becomes more difficult but that’s only my experience.”

Last month, the brunette beauty was photographed on outings in Los Angeles and New York with Vogue photographer Francesco Carrozzini, and insiders believe the new affair is already serious.

Del Rey sparked outrage when she told The Guardian, “I wish I was dead already… I don’t want to have to keep doing this. But I am.” She told the New York Times a few days later that she was “scared to die, but I want to die.”

“I am a little f—ed up. This whole experience has f—ed me up,” Del Rey told Complex about her battle with depression. “I don’t feel like things have gone well. It’s not the way I would have chosen them to go. So it’s not like I feel everything’s turned around and it’s great.

Del Rey also discussed her album’s version of Nina Simone’s “The Other Woman” and told a similar anecdote about spending time with industry men.

“I had a long-term relationship for seven years with someone who was the head of a label and I felt like I was that change of routine,” she told Complex. “The people I was drawn to were already established, but they were probably looking for someone more on their level, age-wise. But I love the idea of wrapping up the record with a reference.”
