As the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which went missing on the way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, continues, Courtney Love believes she may have found the missing plane, which was carrying 12 crew members and 227 passengers.

Love shared an annotated screen grab of what she believes to be an oil slick and the wreckage of a plane on Facebook, along with exact coordinates for investigators to discover the wreckage. Despite claiming to be “not an expert,” Love shared the photo on Facebook, claiming the plane was “like a mile away Pulau Perak.”

For emphasis, Love utilized red arrows, likely made in Microsoft Paint, pointing to regions of water indicating “oil” and “plane,” as well as a “CL” signature.

“I’m no expert, but this does look like a plane and an oil slick up close,” she wrote. “Prayers go out to the families #MH370 and it’s like a mile away Pulau Perak, where they ‘last’ tracked it 5°39’08.5″N 98°50’38.0″E but what do I know?”

I’ll let you judge if this does, in fact, like a plane and an oil slick. Some of the people who comment on her Facebook page are doubtful.

“What are the odds thou [sic] that it would land right next to a red sign saying plane, let alone next to the arrow?” Craig Hobson, for example, wondered.

“The MS Paint development team just high fived,” Jason Miller sniffed.

Love used an image from the Tomnod website, a crowdsourcing tool for identifying items and locations in satellite photographs.

When one person questioned the validity of the claims made in her photo, Love responded with a simple “I don’t see it” on her Twitter account.

“Really? look closer? check it out @DR24 #MH370 and its like a mile away Pulau Perak, where they ‘last’ tracked it.”

On March 8, a Malaysia Airlines plane went missing with 239 passengers and crew on board less than an hour into a trip from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. In the Indian Ocean, a massive search and rescue operation involving 26 countries is presently underway.

Currently, however, Love’s efforts appear to be on par with anyone else’s. According to the most recent theory, which was written by a pilot and published in Wired, the jet caught fire and crashed shortly after contact was lost.

A few more incidents in Love’s life may cause her quest for the plane to be disrupted. Psychiatrist Edwin Ratush sued the singer this month, alleging that she owes him $48,250 in unpaid fees dating back to 2010. The lawsuit does state that the “nature of this action is Breach of Contract, Account Stated, Money Due and Owing, and Unjust Enrichment.” Kurt Cobain’s widow has also confirmed that she will attend Nirvana’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction on April 10th.

Courtney Love has scheduled a series of live concerts in May for a tour of the United Kingdom later this year.
