Katherine McPhee, an actress, is the latest celebrity to be found sleeping with her married director.

Katharine McPhee was caught smooching her former Smash director Michael Morris in public over the weekend.

E! News has received a photo of the couple locking lips after their lunch date on Sunday, Oct. 22 at I Panini Di Ambra in Hollywood. In a parking lot, the couple picked up their PDA, holding hands and exchanging kisses.

“She and her husband are separated for over six months, since early this year. They haven’t been living together,” a source close to McPhee tells PEOPLE.

Since 2008, McPhee, 29, has been married to producer Nick Cokas, 47. The two met while playing in Los Angeles. When the singer married Cokas, she told People magazine, “[Nick] is the love of my life. This is a once in a lifetime occasion and everything is just perfect.”

Three years before, the pair met while performing in a theatrical performance of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.

For more than a decade, the Brothers & Sisters director has been married to actress Mary McCormack, and the pair has three young kids together, ranging in age from two to nine.

Michael, on the other hand, looks to be separated from his wife. Chelsea Handler, who split from Andrea Balazs last summer, told her audience in early October that she enjoys going out with her guest Mary, but the actress interjected and added of the talk show host, ‘She’s single now, too, so it’s like, you can’t keep up.’

McCormack is most remembered for her role as Howard Stern’s wife in the 1997 film “Private Parts,” in which she played the shock jock’s wife.

During the afternoon outing with Morris, McPhee didn’t appear to be wearing her wedding band. When reached for comment, they did not reply.

“I never noticed anything with Kat and the director on set at the time … I do remember Kat’s husband was always around and was very controlling,” an on-set insider tells PEOPLE about why the 2006 American Idol runner-up may have called it quits with her spouse.

After the kissing photos surfaced online, both McPhee and McCormack, whose NBC comedy “Welcome to the Family” was just canceled, went silent on Twitter.
