Mel Gibson is not only single, but also $425 million poorer as a result of a divorce deal reached with his wife of 31 years, Robyn Denise Moore, on Friday.

In a Los Angeles courthouse today, legal representatives for the actor and his former wife – who is restoring her maiden name, Robyn Moore – presented a judge with their proposed parting payment.

One of the largest divorce settlements in Hollywood history is reported to have been reached.

Robyn, 55, was legally entitled to half of anything he made throughout their marriage since the couple didn’t have a prenuptial agreement.

According to the magazine, the Oscar winner’s net worth has been reported to be as high as $850 million, citing a 2006 story in the Los Angeles Business Journal.

Gibson’s estimated assets include more than $600 million in box office receipts from The Passion of the Christ; $100 million in real estate investments worldwide (he paid $15 million for an island in Fiji in 2005); and $75 million in film and television projects for which Gibson, 55, served as executive producer.

Some of his fortune appears to have already been passed to Robyn, including two Malibu properties worth $22.5 million.

Moore, a former dental nurse, is also said to be entitled to half of whatever film residuals Gibson earns for the rest of his life, according to People.

Mel and Robyn Gibson had spent the previous two and a half years working out a divorce arrangement, according to E! News stories and court filings, before their divorce was completed. In April 2009, Robyn filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

Only one of their seven children, a 12-year-old boy, is a minor and so requires a custody arrangement.

Gibson told his then-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva in covertly recorded audio she made of the actor in February 2010: “I left my wife because we had no spiritual common ground.”

Judge Stephanie Sautner, who is hearing Mel’s abuse case against former girlfriend Oksana Grigoreiva, praised him earlier this month after he completed double the amount of anger management and domestic violence counseling he was obliged to complete.

In March, the “Braveheart” star pleaded no guilty to a violence allegation involving Grigorieva. Grigorieva was also investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for attempted extortion, but she was never prosecuted. Lucia, their two-year-old daughter, is the couple’s only child.

Robyn filed a sworn affidavit in July 2010 during Gibson’s custody dispute with Grigorieva, claiming that “Mel was a wonderful and loving father” who never assaulted Robyn or their children.

They met when they were both renters at a property in Adelaide, Australia, in the late 1970s.
