Paris Hilton was hauled screaming and weeping from a courthouse on Friday, seconds after a judge ordered her to spend the remainder of her 45-day term for a parole breach in a reckless driving case.

The crying Hilton said, “It’s not right!” “Mom!” she exclaimed to Kathy Hilton, who was also crying.

“When he said, ‘You’re going back to jail,’ she started to cry,” legal commentator Royal Oakes said on ABC News’ “Good Morning America Weekend Edition.” ” She began to wail, turned around, twirled, and faced her mother, yelling “Mom!” three times at the top of her lungs. Very dramatic stuff.”

Hilton, who arrived in court in handcuffs in a sheriff’s vehicle, looked untidy and tearful, her hair a mess, and she was wearing a gray fuzzy sweater over pants.

As she wiped at her eyes, her body trembled incessantly. She mouthed the words “I love you” to her parents, who were sat behind her in the courtroom, several times.

Two sheriff’s officers forcibly pulled the 26-year-old hotel heiress away from her parents, holding her by each arm and rushing her out of the courtroom.

Some commentators thought the ruling that Hilton complete her whole term in prison was unjust.

“It doesn’t seem right, to be honest,” criminal defense attorney Dana Cole told “GMA.”

In similar cases, Cole said, most individuals are sentenced to a few days in jail and some community work. Hilton may not have to serve the whole 45-day term, he feels.

Judge Michael T. Sauer of the Superior Court was composed but irritated by the morning’s events. He claimed he signed an order for Hilton to appear for the hearing and departed the courthouse Thursday night.

He claimed he heard a radio report that she would not come and that he had granted a telephone hearing when he got in his car early Friday. He stated that he had not given his approval to such a thing.

He added of the decision to release Hilton after three days in jail, “I at no time condoned the sheriff’s actions and at no time told him I approved the actions.”

He stated, “At no time did I approve the defendant being released from custody to her home on Kings Road.”

The judge did not provide a reason for his decision. However, his statements throughout the hearing revealed that he was offended by county Sheriff Lee Baca’s decision to ignore his orders and release Hilton after three days in jail so she could serve her sentence in the comfort of her Hollywood Hills mansion.

Hilton should be sent to jail, according to Assistant City Attorney Dan F. Jeffries, who also stated that the judge’s ruling was final. “Her release after only three days erodes confidence in the judicial system,” Jeffries added.

Baca was worried about Hilton’s physical condition, according to a member of the county counsel’s office, and was prepared to come to court with medical specialists to speak with the judge. The judge declined to take him up on his offer, but he did not act on the contempt request.

Hilton was brought to a correctional treatment center at the downtown Twin Towers jail following the court for a medical and psychological assessment to decide where she would be held, according to sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore.

“She’ll be there for at least a couple of days,” he said

Another of her attorneys, Steve Levine, said, “The sheriff has determined that because of her medical situation, this (jail) is a dangerous place for her.”

“The court’s role here is to let the Sheriff’s Department run the jail,” he said.

Hilton was first freed, according to the Los Angeles County sheriff, because she had a significant psychiatric condition. He further stated that he is now concerned that she would harm herself.

“We’ll watch her behavior so there isn’t anything she does to herself by herself, which is a great concern to me,” Sheriff Lee Baca said.

He said he heard from one of her doctors that she was not taking a particular medicine while in jail, and that her “inexplicable deterioration” perplexed county psychiatrists.

An appeal will be heard on Monday. If that fails, Hilton still has 18 days left if he behaves himself.
