After being photographed kissing his girlfriend Rita Ora and actress Tessa Thompson on the balcony of his Sydney home in May, Thor director Taika Waititi has spoken out.

In a recent interview, the Oscar-winning filmmaker, 45, said the viral photos didn’t affect him since he did “nothing wrong.”

“I think everything goes away pretty quickly in the world of the internet,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald. “And also, ‘Is it that big a deal?’ No, not really. I was doing nothing wrong. It’s fine.”

The internet moves at a breakneck speed. Since their shared kiss in May, there have been at least 25 major new stories that have taken over the internet. But, more importantly, he didn’t do anything wrong; he simply lived his life as we’d all like to in the post-vaccine era.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Marvel executives chastised the New Zealand director for the photo. According to the publication, it’s “not exactly the image they’re looking to project in relation to one of their biggest franchises.”

Waititi made news around the world on May 23 when he shared a three-way kiss on the balcony of his Bondi house with Rita, whom he has been seeing for some months, and Tessa, one of the actresses of his upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder.

After partying all night at Waititi’s villa, the trio locked lips. During their private moment, the group was seen holding drinks, as if they wanted to keep the celebration continuing.

In several of the photos, Ora, 30, is seen kissing the “Jojo Rabbit” screenwriter. She sat nose-to-nose with Thompson, 37, in another photo, with the “Creed” actor resting her legs on the singer’s lap.

The film “Thor: Love And Thunder” will be released on May 6, 2022. In the first half of 2021, it was shot in several sites around Sydney, with production centered at Fox Studios.

Waititi, who won an Oscar for his film Jojo Rabbit last year, helmed the picture after directing Thor: Ragnarok in 2017.
