Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner have called it quits after being together for 18 years.
Reports state that Baumgartner filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences,” leaving Costner shocked and devastated.
A source close to the actor revealed that he “obviously doesn’t want the divorce” and would take her back if given the chance.
Costner’s past infidelity rumors have resurfaced following the announcement of the divorce.
His previous marriage to Cindy Costner ended in 1994 due to rumors of cheating with hula teacher Michelle Amaral.
At the time, Costner was filming “Waterworld” in Hawaii, where Amaral was a performer at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel.
Despite the rumors, Costner had never addressed the allegations directly.
In a 1998 interview with People, he admitted to making mistakes but never mentioned his alleged affair with Amaral.
He said, “I have certainly made my share of mistakes in my life, and I’m sorry for them.
I’m sorry for anybody I hurt because that was never my intention.”
A “longtime friend” has come forward to deny any allegations of infidelity in Costner’s recent marriage.
They told Page Six, “There was no issue of cheating at all.” However, fans are still curious about the reason behind the sudden divorce.
Baumgartner has asked for joint custody of their three children: Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace Avery, 12.
She is also a stepmother to Costner’s children from a previous relationship: Annie, 39, Lily, 36, Joe, 35, and Liam, 26.
The couple appeared to be happy and in love as recently as March 2022 when they attended the Academy Awards together and Vanity Fair’s Oscar Party.
However, things seem to have taken a turn for the worse since then.
Costner’s representative released a statement saying, “It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr.
Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action.” The actor has always been known for his private life, and this recent news has come as a shock to many fans.
