A 71-year-old man has been apprehended after allegedly committing an indecent act in a public place in Amherstview, Ontario.
According to reports, the man was caught masturbating behind an apartment building on Amherst Drive at about 5 p.m.
The police were notified, but upon arrival, the man had disappeared.
The following day, the individual was located and taken into custody by the Lennox & Addington OPP.
He was subsequently charged with an indecent act in a public place.
The man’s name has not been disclosed to the public.
The police have confirmed that the accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in a Napanee court at a later date.
Meanwhile, the incident has sparked outrage and concern among residents of the quiet neighbourhood.
One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed her shock and disgust at the incident.
“It’s disturbing to think that someone could do something like this in broad daylight,” she said.
“It makes you feel violated and unsafe.”
Another resident stated that the incident highlights the importance of community members being vigilant and reporting any suspicious behaviour they witness.
“We need to look out for each other and keep our neighbourhood safe,” he said.

“We take these types of incidents very seriously and will do everything in our power to ensure that those responsible are held accountable,” he added.
Meanwhile, local authorities are encouraging residents to be proactive in reporting any incidents of indecent exposure or public masturbation.
“If you witness any suspicious behaviour, please do not hesitate to contact the police,” the spokesperson said.
