The upcoming action-packed film, Expendables 4, has just dropped its first trailer featuring a mix of franchise veterans and newcomers.
The movie follows Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham as they team up with a new group of expendables, including 50 Cent and Megan Fox, to prevent World War III.
Andy Garcia provides the requisite expository voiceover in the trailer, explaining that terrorists have taken possession of nuclear missiles on a cargo ship off the coast.
The Expendables must act fast to take them out and save the world from disaster.
In between quick cuts of heavy machinery and firearms, the trailer shows Statham and Fox battling it out in their apartment and Stallone flipping an assailant over a bar.
Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture also return to the franchise alongside Stallone and Statham.
Meanwhile, the new generation of Expendables includes Fox, 50 Cent, Garcia, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Jacob Scipio, and Levy Tran.
Stallone recently spoke about the film in a cover story for THR, saying, “I heard it turned out pretty good.
Jason Statham is 80 percent of it.
He’s happy with it.” The official synopsis for the movie reads, “The Expendables are the world’s last line of defense and the team that gets called when all other options are off the table.
But new team members with new styles and tactics are going to give ‘new blood’ a whole new meaning.”
It has been almost a decade since the last Expendables film.
The first three entries of the franchise, released in 2010, 2012, and 2014, grossed a combined $800 million worldwide at the box office.
Lionsgate will release The Expendables 4 on Sep. 22.
The trailer promises plenty of high-octane action and intense fight scenes.
Fans of the franchise will undoubtedly be excited to see the old and new cast members come together for this explosive adventure.
The Expendables has always been known for its star-studded ensemble, and the fourth installment is no exception.
