On September 12th, actor and comedian Pete Davidson made a surprise appearance at the 2022 Emmys, where he presented the award for Best Comedy Series to Ted Lasso.
This marked Davidson’s first major public appearance since his split from Kim Kardashian in August.
Many people noticed that Davidson’s outfit at the Emmys was similar to the one worn by Kanye West at the 2019 Met Gala.
Both men donned a zip-up Dickies jacket, with Davidson opting for a charcoal gray version and West choosing black.
The rapper also accessorized with his signature sunglasses, while Davidson paired his jacket and pants with a pair of his own sunglasses.
Some viewers found Davidson’s fashion choice to be ironic, considering West’s recent social media activity.
Following the news of the breakup between Kardashian and Davidson, West posted a fake front page of the New York Times on his Instagram account that read: “Skete Davidson dead at age 28.”
West had previously referred to Davidson as “Skete” during a feud between the two earlier in the year, during which West released an animated video showing Davidson being buried alive for his song “Eazy.”
Kardashian had called the social media attacks “scary,” leading West to apologize and “take accountability” for some of his posts.
Despite the apparent tension between the two men, a source close to Davidson and Kardashian told E! News that the former couple still have “a lot of love and respect for each other.”
The source also cited conflicting schedules as a factor in the breakup, saying it “made it really difficult to maintain a relationship.”
Davidson and Kardashian dated for nearly nine months before ending their relationship in August.
They are the parents of four children: North, nine, Saint, six, Chicago, four, and Psalm, three.
West and Kardashian were married for six years before she filed for divorce in July of this year.
At the 2019 Met Gala, whose theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” West opted for a more casual look while Kardashian wore a custom wet-looking Thierry Mugler dress and fitted corset.
The event is known for its extravagant and often over-the-top fashion, with celebrities and designers showcasing their most outlandish and creative outfits.
Despite the attention on his outfit, Davidson’s appearance at the Emmys was largely overshadowed by the award wins and performances of the night.
The event saw victories for shows like “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Watchmen,” and “Schitt’s Creek,” as well as memorable performances from H.E.R., Billy Porter, and Lizzo.
