Sarah Jessica Parker is preparing to reprise her part in one of TV’s hottest series, but she won’t be showing too much skin since she refuses to go n-de on camera.
When the series-turned-movie franchise was in development, the star, 55, who will reprise her role as Carrie Bradshaw in the spin-off titled And Just Like That, was one of the only original four actresses who did not appear in a revealing n-de scene.
Viewers wanting to catch a risqué glimpse of Parker will be disappointed. In the contract, Parker incorporated a no-n-dity provision.
In the upcoming S-x And The City, her character Carrie Bradshaw will still have a filthy love life, despite the fact that the 55-year-old “SJP” has refused to allow executives employ a body double for s-xual sequences.
“Some people have a perks list, and they are legendary,” Sarah said. “They have to have white candles in their room. I don’t have a crazy list like that. I’ve just always had a no-n-dity clause.”
“I’m a modest person. You couldn’t pay me enough to have someone pretend they were me doing a n-de scene. No body doubles — that’s part of my contract.”
The actress was under pressure to appear in s-xualized sequences as per the show’s concept when S-x And The City originally aired in the summer of 1998.
She made it clear that she would not be compelled to remove her clothing in the series.
The writing and clothing teams were able to work around it with ease. If Parker hadn’t acknowledged it, fans may not have noticed. Carrie was often shown wearing underwear and bras in bedroom scenes, rather than being n-de. She was covered with a sheet or wore a bralette or tank top in post-coital moments. Everything seemed really natural and organic.
When she initially arrived in Hollywood, producers attempted to push her to strip off, leaving her crying until her agency intervened.
“There was so much pressure for me to take my clothes off,” she said. “They were like, ‘Sarah’s going to be n-de tomorrow’, and I was like, ‘I’m not going to be n-de’.
“My agent sent a car and a plane ticket to the film set and said, ‘If anybody makes you do anything that you are not comfortable doing, you don’t’.
“I know how lucky I am that there was someone — in this case, a man — who stepped in.”
‘I’m excited about being back on NY streets’
She expressed her delight at the prospect of reprising the role, with filming on And Just Like That set to begin soon.
Parker, Nixon, and Davis were all cast in the 10-episode limited series, which premiered in January 2021. For the S-x and the City remake, the gal companions are believed to be paid $1 million each episode. While fans are eager to see Chris Noth reprise his role as Mr. Big in the series, his participation is still up in the air. However, it is clear that Kim Cattrall will not be reprising her role as Samantha Jones on television.
