Sandra Bullock has admitted that for The Lost City 2, she could make an exception to her “no sequel” rule.

Bullock, who has starred in films including Miss Congeniality, Gravity, The Proposal, and Netflix’s hit Bird Box, will next be seen in The Lost City, a peculiar action comedy.

Following the success of her collaboration with Melissa McCarthy in The Heat 10 years ago, Bullock disclosed her “no sequel” rule.

She declared at the time, “I’m not doing a sequel to ‘The Heat.’ I’ve done two sequels. They were horrible. What Melissa and I had was beautiful. We might do another film together. I think we should do a silent film together.”

The two “horrible” sequels Sandra Bullock was alluding to were the successor to her star-making picture ‘Speed,’ which grossed barely a third of the original’s domestic box office, and the highly derided ‘Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous,’ according to cinema aficionados and social media users.

Despite the fact that the film has yet to be released, Bullock revealed in a recent interview with Variety that she could consider breaking her rule of not producing sequels to do The Lost City 2.

“I had a ‘no sequel’ rule when I didn’t have the benefit of fighting for what I really wanted. I feel like, in my old age, I’m learning to fight for the things that I think would be best on screen — and I don’t care who comes away from the meeting angry. I don’t know that I’d want to do a sequel, but look — we had Dana Fox as a writer. If Dana Fox could come up with something brilliant… there you go,” she said.

It’s too early to tell whether The Lost City will be a success, but Bullock’s statements regarding a possible sequel imply she believes in it. Bullock, on the other hand, has stated that she wants to take a sabbatical from acting, implying that if a sequel to The Lost City is made, it won’t be for a while. It’s unknown how popular The Lost City will be, but a sequel appears to be contingent on Fox’s ability to come up with a solid enough idea.

Bullock also addressed the late-December announcement that her Netflix original picture “The Unforgiven” had broken into the top 10 most-watched movies of all time, establishing her as a Netflix queen.

“The perk of Netflix is that they let me work, and they let me choose material that never would have made it into the theaters,” she remarked.

Daniel Radcliffe inquired as to whether the achievement qualified her for a free Netflix subscription.

“No! I have like a little Yeti cup that keeps my coffee hot. But I think you’re right, I think part of our deal should be that all of our subscriptions should be free, kids included,” she remarked.

The Lost City is set to hit theaters later this month, on March 25th, and assuming it gets the green light, The Lost City 2 will most certainly be a long time coming.
