Sylvester Stallone has finally answered the question that has been plaguing fans for years: who would win a battle between two of his most renowned characters, boxing underdog Rocky Balboa and soldier-turned-lone-wolf John Rambo.

Just out of a massive refit for his director’s cut of Rocky IV and that we expect to see it again soon on the big screen in Expandable 4 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Sylvester Stallone has fun in his spare time at communicate on social networks throughout his career.

The actor/director discussed a hypothetical meeting of two of his most memorable roles: Rocky and Rambo, with the aid of a few scenes of films and behind-the-scenes footage.

“Even I would pay to see this one,” Stallone said in a long Instagram post that included a picture of a mock-fight poster displaying his two legendary characters side-by-side.

“If the fighters wore to remain upright Rocky would prevail,” he said. “His body punches and right hooks would eventually beat Rambo… If the fight goes to the ground, Rambo will prevail. In a bloody brutal fight to the end… rethinking this scenario, I believe that upon initial contact, since they will not be in the rain but fighting outside, basically a street fight… Rocky will land the first five or six blows. If that does not incapacitate Rambo, which I don’t think he will unless he’s caught clean, Rambo’s skill set will definitely be in full display… Which means incredibly vicious assaults on the eyes, the throat, every vulnerable part of the body eventually leading to being pulled to the ground and most likely mauled… Then again Rocky is incredibly resilient and pretty good on the ground too!!! That’s my opinion in this fictional world. Final result is neither man will ever be the same.”

After hearing his explanation, it’s possible that many people would pay to watch this one as well.

Even if this meeting is (to date) merely a dream, the history of film has already seen the creation of countless crossovers that spanned distinct brands, such as Freddy vs. Jason, King Kong vs. Godzilla (and its more contemporary side godzilla vs kong), and Alien vs. Predator.

While Stallone clearly loves both roles, it’s doubtful that he’ll reprise either in the near future: he’s already informed fans that he won’t be participating in the next Creed III, and there are currently no plans for another Rambo film beyond 2019’s Last Blood. Stallone is instead focusing on television, where he will appear in Kansas City, a gangster thriller series created by Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan.

Rocky is prepping for a spin-off with Rambo, with a budget of $250 million.
