Jennifer Coolidge remembers the days leading up to her big break.

Last night on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, the 60-year-old “Legally Blonde” actor talked about working at a restaurant in the 1980s, her role in “White Lotus,” and her Super Bowl ad.

The comedian and actress said she worked with Sandra Bullock in a restaurant named Canastels in New York City.

While Bullock, who appeared on the show lately, couldn’t recall much about that time period, Coolidge, who worked there longer than Bullock, recalls it clearly.

She “had a lot of parties at the time,” but “acted together.”

“It was sort of 50/50 whether I made the shift or not,” she said, adding that she “couldn’t get fired” for whatever reason.

“There was this very forgiving maitre d’, Moreno. All of us wanted to be actresses. We all had these little white coats and my coat was always kind of stained,” she said.

“I tried to get Fourth of July off. It was one of those nights you really couldn’t pull a no-show,” because it was “a big night at the restaurant.”

“I went to Roosevelt Hospital and found an ambulance driver and he strapped a patch and a white thing around my head. I called the restaurant and I got Moreno and told him, ‘You’re not gonna believe this but I was at a party last night and someone put a cigarette out in my eye,’” Coolidge laughed as she told the story. “That’s too bad,” he remarked, but “you’ll have to come to work anyway.”

She also discussed her position on HBO’s The White Lotus, which writer Mike White reportedly designed specifically for her.

When she was hired to portray Tanya McQuoid, they were searching for a “crazy lady,” and he must have been “amused by how strange I was.”

Because of her “terrible seasickness” in real life, she improvised the “funny and odd performance” in which she vomited during the boat scene with her mother’s ashes.
