Tom Holland is ready to put his Spider-Man costume away, take a break from acting, and establish a family.

The Spider-Man: No Way Home star said in a recent interview with People that he plans to become a parent in the next few years.

He said he wants to ‘take a break and focus on starting a family and figuring out what I want to do outside of this world.’

The 25-year-old is dating American actress and singer Zendaya, with whom he also co-stars in the action-adventure film.

When asked why he made the decision, the actor explained that he had committed a long time to acting and intended to take it easy in the future.

“I’ve spent the last six years so focused on my career,” Holland stated.

According to People, the actor says he hopes to become a parent one day and that his love for children would lead him to become a schoolteacher if it weren’t for acting:

“I love kids. I can’t wait to be a dad—I can wait and I will, but I can’t wait! If I’m at a wedding or a party, I’m always at the kids’ table hanging out. My dad’s been such a great role model for me. I think I’ve got that from him. So I think I’d be a primary school teacher or something like that.”

During the interview, Holland also discussed his plans to leave the Spider-Man franchise after participating in Spider-Man: Far From Home.

The actor went on to say that he was delighted to pass on the superhero role, which has previously been played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, to other actors.

“I don’t want to say goodbye to Spider-Man—but I feel like we might be ready to say goodbye to Spider-Man,” he said. “I don’t want to be responsible for holding back the next young person that comes in who deserves it just as much so.”

He also noted, “I would love to see a future of Spider-Man that’s more diverse—maybe you have a Spider-Gwen or a Spider-Woman. We’ve had three Spider-Mans in a row; we’ve all been the same. It’d be nice to see something different.”
