Carrie Johnson is eager to spend time with the Queen for the first time since her wedding to Boris, but courtiers are reportedly getting concerned about the trip to Balmoral.

Officials are keen to ensure that Her Majesty, 95, is not exposed to Covid, and they are concerned about a planned visit by the Prime Minister and his wife, according to reports.

According to the Daily Mail, a royal aide said: ‘The visit is still due to go ahead but, frankly, we’d rather it wasn’t.’

Although the Queen has had both doses of the vaccination, courtiers are still taking precautions to ensure she does not contract the virus.

The politician and his wife are required to take extra measures before their vacation, including being urged to avoid meeting new people in the days leading up to their departure and being requested to do Covid tests.

Because of Covid worries and a wish to avoid attracting crowds, the Queen has not attended worship at Crathie Kirk since her arrival in Royal Deeside.

Last year, the Queen spent six weeks on the 50,000-acre Royal Deeside estate with her late husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.

The Queen and Philip, who died in April at the age of 99, referred to Balmoral as their “happy place” and spent every summer of their 73-year marriage there.

Nicola Sturgeon, Scotland’s First Minister, warned Wednesday that the virus was spreading faster than it has been since the epidemic began. Earlier this summer, a member of the Balmoral staff tested positive for the virus.

6,835 new cases have been recorded in the previous 24 hours, according to the First Minister.

The Queen invites family members to stay with her during her visit, which generally lasts until September, and they participate in a variety of outdoor activities.

The PM had to be persuaded out of visiting the Queen in London a week before Britain went into lockdown for the first time, according to Boris’s former right-hand man, Dominic Cummings.

He said Boris declared, ‘Sod this! I’m going to go and see her.’ Cummings added: ‘I just said, ‘If you give her coronavirus and she dies, what are you going to [do]? You can’t risk that. That’s completely insane’.’

In Scotland, the number of coronavirus patients continues to grow, with 479 persons admitted to hospitals on Thursday with newly diagnosed Covid.

Boris has only met the Queen once since the outbreak began. Following that encounter in June at Buckingham Palace, video of her telling him she had just met ‘poor man’ Matt Hancock and he was ‘full of…’ was published. Boris interrupted her to say ‘beans’.
