Halle Berry’s choppy, short bob at the Academy Awards on Sunday night sparked hundreds of memes and responses on Twitter. Many people believed it was legitimate, especially after Berry posted an Instagram story with hair on the floor. But don’t worry, the drastic haircut was only a one-time thing.

On Friday, Halle Berry addressed the concerns among her fans by revealing that she had simply been wearing a wig during the event.

The actress posted a photo on Instagram on Saturday with long, highlighted strands hidden behind a dark hat. Although it’s unclear if she had bangs in the shot, her hair is unquestionably longer than it was only last weekend.

“Oscar bob…just kidding 😂,” Berry captioned her post alongside a gorgeous selfie where she flashes a smile.

Berry had previously worn the shorter haircut with a strapless purple dress by Dolce & Gabbana on April 25. The gown had a ruched bodice, a V-shaped neckline, a semi-sheer skirt, and a large bow at the waist.

The red carpet haircut turned out to be a pretty realistic wig. After all, the most effective hair changes are those that do not need any kind of commitment.
