Emily Ratajkowski looked amazing in a red-hot Vera Wang gown as she walked the red carpet at the 2021 Met Gala on Monday.

She looked stunning in the gown and PAT McGRATH LABS makeup, demonstrating that her looks at Fashion’s Biggest Night improve every year.

Emily wore a flowing gown made of transparent fabric with exquisite red embellishments in flower and leaf patterns.

Vera Wang couldn’t speak highly enough about Emily Ratajkowski.

She even had a few words of advice. “It was really about how Emily felt, how she wanted to look. A woman is never more beautiful or seductive than when she is comfortable,” says Wang, later adding, “What I love most about this look is that while it is sensual, there is an ease to her and a looseness and a freedom. I don’t know if that comes with having a child, or being happily married, or where her career is going, but I just felt this very natural ease and movement.”

The off-the-shoulder dress had a plunging neckline that emphasized her chest, and transparent cutouts on the sides showed off her incredible post-baby figure.

The annual Costume Institute Gala is the fashion world’s Oscars, and it is typically held on the first Monday of May, but owing to the epidemic, it was postponed until September 2021. This year’s theme was “In America,” and there will be a two-part show, with the second half premiering at the Met Gala next year.

Emily, a mother of one, has walked the Met Gala red carpet several times. In 2019, she took the Camp: Notes on Fashion concept to a whole new level by wearing a bespoke Dundas dress to show off her toned stomach. Fans will recall how she wore a silver halter gown with a bedazzled winged headdress, paying tribute to some of Cher’s most famous red carpet outfits. Emily’s train flowed behind her, making her appear like a real-life fairy, leaving nothing to the imagination as she traversed the then-pink carpet.

Emily told Good Morning America in May 2019 that Cher is “just such an icon” for her. “She is someone that I have always looked up to. Moonstruck was one of my favorite movies growing up. It still is. There’s not always a moment to really pay homage to her — and we had this really great vision of doing that and pushing that limit, and this is the opportunity to do it.”

She was helping with the restoration of the Manhattan-based event’s former splendor, as the Met Gala had been canceled in 2020 due to the continuing coronavirus epidemic.

While getting ready for the event, Ratajkowski reflected about her new stage in life. “Definitely giving birth totally changed my appreciation for my body and being pregnant,” she says. “And as a model, you’re so used to being something to be looked at and dressed. To have my body bring life into the world and grow life changed my perspective on everything.”

While speaking with GMA, designers Peter Dundas and Evangelo Bousis raved over the outfit. Peter stated that he tied in the “entire wing that goes from the side of the dress to the back,” as well as the winged headpiece. “Emily is the only person who could wear this dress; it was made for her,” Evangelo said.

“I’m just obsessed,” Emily said of the look. “This is that moment where you are like, ‘OMG it is coming together — it is going to happen.’”

The model paid tribute to Vera Wang by posing with the iconic designer on the red carpet.

In a black crop top with spaghetti straps and a billowing white train, the 72-year-old design legend looked young.

She paired it with voluminous black satin shorts and black platform heels with thigh-high black stockings to create a striking look.

There were a few last-minute changes made throughout the preparation phase. Flowers, to be specific, that were hand-applied on Wang’s work. Ratajkowski usually does her own makeup, but at the Met, she hired a cosmetic professional before walking the red carpet.

While some celebrities choose to attend the Met Gala with their significant others, Emily has walked the red carpet sans her husband Sebastian Bear-McClard. The pair married in February 2018.

She’s been flaunting her post-baby figure on Instagram since she gave birth, and the Met Gala is no exception.

In October 2020, she told Vogue about becoming a mother, “I’m completely and undeniably helpless when it comes to almost everything surrounding my pregnancy: how my body will change, who my child will be. But I’m surprisingly unbothered. Instead of feeling afraid, I feel a new sense of peace. I’m already learning from this person inside my body. I’m full of wonder.”
