Debra Messing, star of Will & Grace, is perplexed by Kim Kardashian’s hosting of the upcoming season of Saturday Night Live.

West was chosen to host “Saturday Night Live,” and she isn’t afraid to express her excitement in public.

“Why Kim Kardashian?” Messing enquired through Twitter on Wednesday. “I mean, I know she is a cultural icon, but SNL has hosts, generally, who are performers who are there to promote a film, TV show, or album launch. Am I missing something?”

Kim Kardashian is known for sending presents to her adversaries, which includes Taylor Swift and Sarah Michelle Gellar, so if history repeats itself, Debra Messing should be receiving a lovely fruit basket any day now following this.

Several fans of the Mysteries of Laura alum expressed their opinions on the reality star’s forthcoming visit.

“Yes Debra, you are missing something. Like the last 40 years,” one person wrote. “You may not like her, but as you say, KK is a cultural icon. SNL has had athletes, politicians, community leaders, models, businessmen and media personalities as hosts. I am not a fan of her, but she may be great.”

“Sry we do not take opinions on comedy show casting from people who have beef with Megan Mullally,” another added, referencing Messing’s rumored feud with her “Will & Grace” co-star.

“She’s producing some Hulu shows, drops clothing lines every 5 seconds and frees a few humans from wrongful incarceration hun maybe extend your list of criteria to fit the modern celebrity,” a different fan commented in response. “It’s dated.”

Kardashian will host the second episode of the 47th season of the sketch program, which will include Halsey as a musical guest.

Since Kardashian West was announced as one of the presenters for Season 47 of the long-running NBC sketch comedy show, which starts on October 2, social media has been blazing with reactions.

When you pose a question on the internet, you can expect an answer — and often a harsh one, as fans were eager to point out when Messing was accused of shading Kardashian West.

“OMFG no turning back now!!!! LOL,” the KKW Beauty founder tweeted alongside a screenshot of the cast list. “I’m hosting SNL!!!!!!” earlier on.

Several of Kardashian’s friends and family members commented on her Instagram post with happy emojis in support of her SNL hosting debut.

Kris Jenner, Kim’s mother, announced the SNL hosting gig on Instagram, saying, “Kim’s hosting SNL on October 9!! Can’t wait for this!! Make sure you guys all tune in! @nbcsnl @kimkardashian #SNL.”

In 2015, SNL was chastised for having then-presidential candidate Donald Trump as a host.

However, Kardashian is far from the first non-performer to host “SNL,” which she will do on October 9 with Halsey as the musical guest.

Elon Musk was just picked to host the event. Former President Donald Trump has hosted the event on many occasions, while Michael Jordan was a host in 1991.

But Messing isn’t one to be inconsistent; when the SpaceX founder’s casting was revealed, she publicly chastised the choice to bring him to Studio 8H.

The reality star has been mocked by numerous cast members throughout the years. Kanye West, her estranged spouse, has been on the late-night show on several occasions. Most recently, on a September 2018 show, the 44-year-old Yeezy designer stirred outrage by wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat and ranting.

During an April 2019 episode of KUWTK, Kardashian told her sisters, “I don’t know if they’ll ever invite us back. I know that Kanye is always going to be Kanye and I’m never trying to change that. I mean, that’s who I fell in love with and I’m not trying to change who he is.”

While Keeping Up with the Kardashians came to an end earlier this year, Kim and the rest of the family signed a partnership with Hulu to offer programs and content.
