Bryce Dallas Howard attended the 2021 Golden Globes with a used designer gown and heels she already had.

Howard, who is an enthusiastic environmentalist and proponent of green living, wore a glittering second-hand dress to present at the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday, demonstrating her dedication to sustainability.

Howard looked stunning in a sequined Temperly London gown she bought on The Real Real, a premium consignment store.

As it swept down to the floor, the second-generation celebrity’s garment faded from silver to pink.

Dallas Howard wrote on Instagram, “As many of you know, I love the sustainability of consignment fashion and often find secondhand pieces for press ✨.”

“When I found out I was presenting at the #GoldenGlobes, I immediately went back to my tried and true friend, @therealreal!”

Howard also said that she wore the ombré dress with a pair of magenta Alexander McQueen shoes that she’d owned for years.

Despite its modest high neckline and lengthy sleeves, the perfectly-fitted gown did a fantastic job of emphasizing Bryce’s incredible physique.

While the dress is no longer available on TheRealReal after Dallas Howard bought it, a similar one is still available for $1,672 on FarFetch.

She chose to do her own hair and makeup, with the help of hairdresser Jason Low and cosmetics artist Vivian Baker via Skype.

Before praising Low and Baker for their “incredible virtual direction!” she wrote, “Tonight seemed like the perfect night to put my own skills to the test.”

Howard stated on Instagram that she was only going to wear “consigned and previously owned pieces” when attending the 2019 Cannes Film Festival to promote her film “Rocketman,” which she had also purchased on The Real Real at the time.

“For several years now, I’ve relied on @therealreal religiously to both buy and consign my own clothes. So for this @rocketmanmovie press tour, I challenged myself to exclusively dress in consigned and previously owned pieces,” she wrote at the time.

Howard has previously advocated for the use of secondhand clothing at red-carpet events in the interest of sustainability.

Bryce gave Nomadland’s Chloé Zhao the award for Best Director In A Motion Picture during the ceremony.

As Hollywood continues to react to the coronavirus pandemic and new safety standards, this year’s ceremony, which typically takes place in early January, has been put back to February 28.

Dallas Howard has spoken out on the challenges of dressing for the red carpet when you’re not a sample size, and how she prefers to buy for herself rather than rely on a stylist throughout the years.

At the Critics’ Choice Awards in 2016, she stated, “That’s the comfortable way to go through these things. I alluded to this a little before [at the Golden Globes], but it’s when you’re not ‘sample’ size, or when you don’t have a direct relationship with a designer, or if you don’t have a lot of notice, those types of size 6 dresses just aren’t that available that much … So, what I found is that if something is sort of last-minute, or I don’t have a good relationship with a place, then I go to Neiman’s, or I get something online.”

The 78th Golden Globe Awards were held on Sunday, February 28. Howard revealed the winner of the Best Director award, which went to Chloé Zhao for her film Nomadland.

Howard’s past red-carpet ensembles have featured items she bought from department stores.

Howard, for example, donned a Jenny Packham gown from Neiman Marcus to the 2016 Golden Globes. The blue gown was floor-length with a black lace overlay and a belted detail.

According to Time, Howard told Giuliana Rancic on the E! red carpet event before the program in 2016, “I like having lots of options for a size six as opposed to maybe one option. So I always go to department stores for this kind of stuff.”
