A Marvel representative confirmed to CBS News that actress Letitia Wright was injured during filming a stunt on the set of the next film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” on Wednesday.

In “Wakanda Forever,” Wright reprises her role as Shuri, the princess of Wakanda and sister of King T’Challa. Ryan Coogler is back in the director’s chair, this time directing a picture based on a story he co-wrote with Joe Robert Cole.

The nature of her injuries was not disclosed, although she was injured while working on a stunt rig. The actress had been released from the hospital before 1 p.m. PT.

The filming took place overnight in Boston, while the sequel to “Black Panther” is being produced in Atlanta. The shooting timetable for the film is presently unaffected.

Following Boseman’s death, Wright said last year that filming the sequel would be challenging.

“The thought of doing it without him is kinda strange,” she told Net-A-Porter. “We’re just grieving at the moment, so it’s trying to find the light in the midst of it.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the follow-up to the 2018 Marvel film, which was a box office smash starring the late Chadwick Boseman.

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” began filming in June 2021. The plot and characters of the sequel to the Oscar-nominated film are being kept under wraps, although it’s anticipated that Danai Gurira, Daniel Kaluuya, Winston Duke, Lupita Nyong’o, Florence Kasumba, and Angela Bassett will return.

Chadwick Boseman, the popular actor, died of colon cancer on August 28, 2020. Fans all across the world were surprised and heartbroken by his passing.

The release date for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is July 8, 2022.

Last month, Variety first announced that Michaela Coel, the writer and star of “I May Destroy You,” had joined the cast in an unspecified capacity. Dominique Thorne, who will portray the up-and-coming superhero Ironheart in her own Disney Plus TV series, will also be introduced in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” ahead of her TV debut, it was confirmed last week.
