Meghan Markle addressed reports that she had made the Duchess of Cambridge cry before her 2018 wedding during a contentious interview with Oprah Winfrey in March. Meghan claimed that Kate was the one who made her cry.

Nevertheless, according to The Telegraph, Kate Middleton is focused on keeping the family together.

A source says that Kate is “not the type to get het up” over the turmoil following the Sussexes’ shocking Oprah appearance and wants to “bring the family back together.”

“The Duchess hasn’t said much about Oprah at all,” a source told the publication (via The Daily Mail). “I think the bridesmaids’ dress comments were the least of anyone’s worries. And she’s not really the type to get het up about these sorts of things. She’s just trying to help to bring the family back together and alleviate her husband’s stress and sadness.”

Camilla Tominey, a royal specialist, also stated the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge did not watch the Oprah interview “start to finish” calling it “telling”

The dispute between the Duchesses of Cambridge and Sussex reportedly started over whether bridesmaids for Harry and Meghan’s wedding should wear tights in accordance with royal tradition.

“The question for the duke is whether he is able to override the short-term pain and damage to get back to the place he once was with his brother. It’s very difficult when the trust has basically gone,” the insider said.

Major Harry, 36, consented to the Oprah Winfrey interview within 24 hours after losing his military ranks in the final Megxit agreement in February.

Similar allegations have been made by author and The Crown consultant Robert Lacey, who says in an updated edition of his book Battle of the Brothers that Kate and William are afraid private conversations with Harry may be leaked and see “no point” in communicating to him. As per Lacey, “They told friends that they could see no point in talking to Harry, since any discussion of substance would go straight back to Meghan to be leaked out via Oprah [Winfrey] or some other tentacle of the Sussex network.”

According to Tominey’s source, the overarching issue was whether Prince William could put aside the grief and harm inflicted by Harry “to get back to the place he once was with his brother.”

“It’s very difficult when the trust has basically gone.”

The insider remarks come in the wake of Prince Harry’s arrival in the United Kingdom on Friday night ahead of the installation of a statue honoring his mother, Princess Diana.

It will be William and Harry’s first face-to-face meeting since their reunion at Prince Philip’s funeral in April.

The Duke of Sussex and the Duke of Cambridge have had a difficult relationship as a result of the Oprah interview.

William has described his wife as a “peacemaker” and she was spotted stepping back to enable him and Harry to talk quietly during their grandfather’s funeral.

The brothers will stand side to shoulder for the service during the statue unveiling, after Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, made a series of bombshell allegations against the Royal Family, including that the duchess was subjected to racism and was not supported when she suffered mental health issues.

Although Kate is not expected to attend the unveiling of the monument, she will be a vital support for her husband.
